Collins Hill....headed north

We like you and good luck. I know what a struggle it is just to find 14 to throw on the bus and hope they aren't embarassed.

One of the funny things about these tournaments........just imagine getting 14 through airport security and then a couple of hours on a plane with them. The air crew usually thinks they have mental problems. I don't think they're too far off.

Wrestlers.....are different.

Collins Hill results from The Clash:

Day 1

Collins Hill 38 - Brown Sturgis, SD 22

Collins Hill 26 - Apple Valley, MN 41

Collins Hill 41 - Perham, MN 16

Day 2

Collins Hill 23 - High Point Regional, NJ 30

Collins Hill 31 - Wisconsin Rapids, WI 27

Collins Hill 41 - St Michael Albertville, MN 21

So of the 32 teams we finished 11th.

Disappointing because we finished with the same or better record than the teams finishing in places 2 - 10.

If you lose in the first round you can do no better than 17th place and losing in the second round you can place no higher than 9th.

We lost to Apple Valley in the 2nd round, but gave the eventual Clash champions closer match than anyone else.

Great showing and a fine job representing the south. Duals placings in multiple pool tournaments are notorious for not reflecting the best teams, host usually packs one pool so the top teams knock each other off, making an easy path to get themselves into the medal pool. Even the casual fan can see you are one of the top teams so don't sweat the final placement. Well done !

Wow, that had to be a great tourney to witness. If you had to access Collins Hill's actual rank at the tourney, what would be your guess?

I'll have to ask some of the group that went up. I didn't head to the great white north!

But if you look at the teams there we did better than several of the teams ranked above us.

Our scores would have been better in the last two matches......but another stupid DQ cost us 9 points in the next to last match and 6 in the final match. (By stupid....I mean our kid being being stupid....not an unwarranted call)

RMC, anyone besides Knapp go unbeaten?

Joel Smith at 140.

Gary Tiller, 160 - 171, had an injury default, but won the other 5 matches. Again, he's wrestling with a torn ACL.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
