Pigeon Forge graduated 13 or so Seniors two All-State players they will be rebuilding for a while, though they are in an extremely weak district and region making winning easier this season will be a challange from start to finish for them but one thing you can guarantee they will play hard every time on the field even though they will be missing alot of talent.

Alcoa is a better "soccer team" than Carter no doubt about it.

I know it'll be next year, but man what a district it will be with Farragut, Bearden, Knox West, Maryville, and Catholic.

i honestly think that is ridiculous! Bearden Farragut are obviously top teams in the state. Catholic and West are very very good but are kind of hiding in Bearden/Farragut's shadow. Maryville can also hold there own. but my question is is why on earth would you put 5 of the top teams in the state in one district? its very confusing to me

I agree with you on this one.

The TSSAA says that it is about travel, but then why is Scott County and Stone Memorial in the same district in A/AA? (1.5 hours away and in different time zones actually!).

I really would like to know how they come up with districts.

The only thing taken into account is Football and after that TSSAA will take your money come tournament time, but they don't care about soccer. They don't care how far you drive, who you play, what the result is, This district is loaded, that one is horrible. So what one of the best teams in the State will not go to the tournament most every year.

Soccer should find its way out of TSSAA and have its own governing body so it could be done properly. Maybe with a merit system like G speaks of is the ultimate decision. I just know TSSAA isn't!

The merit system would work, it would just take a lot to regulate.

It would take soccer only people to run it that understand the lay of the land and how it would work and to put it in writing. You could divide soccer into 3 levels. No public or private. The top teams, followed by middle of the road, followed by beginning programs.

How many would be in each division?

How many would move up and down in respective years? ( G I know you have this thought out)

This is how they do it in English Premier league (thanks to yahoo answers for easy explanation)...

In England we have four divisions in the football (soccer) league. The top division is called the premier the next division is called the championship the next is division one and the next is division two. The object is to work your way up the divisions to get to the premier. This is basically done by coming first second or third in your division, then you would move up to a higher division next season and the three bottom teams from the higher division would drop down to the lower division

It wouldn't be EXACTLY the same, because we have more than 20 teams in the top division. I also don't know how we would get rankings past 2nd place (play off system, reliable ranking?) but it would work the same. Top move up and bottom move down. Middle stay. The numbers would have to be looked at based on total teams played.
