Upperman v. Livingston

Good post hog. From the call by R.Eley, he did say it could have easily been called flagrant. I'm just proud Chase wasn't hurt. I think Upperman has always been known for atitude. Surely there Coach wouldn't tolerate such actions. LA has a reputation for some shady(dirty) play as well. I think alot people wonder if Coach Melton ever addresses it or does he encourage it. Surely he doesn't encourage it. I always heard if a player got a technical under Coach Vaughn, you could just about figure his night was over. Might be a good tool to keep a player under control. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I can't speak intelligently about what is and isn't addressed, but I wouldn't think Coach Melton would encourage any dirty play.

In todays play, you either dish out the same as you receive, or hide in the corner and be intimidated. Play, at times , can get very physical. I've watched, and enjoyed, Coach Melton's teams for several years and I sure haven't seen any signs of him encouraging 'dirty' play. I can assure you though, his players will not be intimidated. --------I talk to many fans from LA and other schools. ------This is the first time I've heard of LA's "reputation" of shady(dirty) play.------Looks to me like a thinly veiled attempt to take a 'shot' at the coach. ------Coach Vaughn was a good, successful, and well respected, coach at LA for many years. He is no longer the coach. From this and other posts, it seems, IMO, that you are having a problem accepting the fact that we have another very successful coach. Hope you soon 'get over it', so you can enjoy watching a great LA team like the 'vast majority' of the other fans . /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

"LA Wildcats"I know your as shocked as I am but we can't blame anyone for this game but us. Refs were bad all around (boys & girls).

. We win as a team we lose as a team (fans included) but we as fans don't need to blame the other kids, refs,or fans for this lose. LA will regroup and come back from this...All I have to say is the Bees come to our house next time!!

Like I said in my first post LA played like they had never saw a ball before. They missed 2/3 of the shots they took and ive seen little kids rebound better than they did. So yes most of the blame goes to them, but the reffing didnt help anything either. Upperman played a very good game last night and played excelent defense. This was a hard loss to take for everyone. I think we all expected for Chase to finaly break the record and for LA to come out with the hard fought win. Instead just the opposite happened. I wish i would have had a fly swatter last night i would have loved to have swatted that bee that kept running around! NEXT TIME WILL BE DIFFRENT /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> The bees will be swatted /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

WHAT HAPPENED tonight? Some of the LA players looked like they had never saw a basketball in their lives. And they sure couldnt hit a shot or rebound. Congrads to Upperman on a hard fought win! BUT I do have a problem with a player trying to take out Chase Dunn and the the coach nodding in approval of it. They both shoud have been "T"'d up and threw out in the snow. Also Coach McWilliams or what ever his name is needs to learn to sit down and shut up and quit arguing with every call that the refs make. Aslo dosent a spectator comming on the court warrant a technical foul. I noticed that a guy kept comming out and talking to the ref seveal times what was he doing offering to pay him more. Because it was for sure they did LA no favors tonight. Ok im done ranting and raving about the game. I guess I just expected more out of the boys than what they did tonight and alot of the reasons for the loss is on them and not everyone else. Again congrads to the Bees on tonights win but be carefull you still have to come to LA things WILL be diffrent.

It almost seemed like we were in Livingston playing.

Coach Melton does a excellent job of coaching, but heaven forbid that anybody say anything about him that is not totally praising him. As far as success goes, when he wins 600+ games then we will talk about success.

Or when he wins a State Championship. Something the other never did. Thats a true measure of success. Coaching for 35+ years isn't excactly what I would consider success. However, it is very impressive that he could coach that long.

NOW.... get back to talking about the Upperman game.

The officiating crew was horrible last night, but that is not the reason LA lost the game by no means. I agree that when the Taylor kid took out Dunn on the lay-up, that should have been a Flagrant, or maybe even an automatic ejection. He done that on purpose I have no doubt. I also agree that there were multiple times that Coach McWilliams should have gotten a "T". Anyways enough of that, there will be another meeting between these two teams and it will be a different story.

The foul on Dunn should have been intentional. But Coach McWilliams nodding was not in approval it was yea thats right smart play put the best foul shooter they have on the line for a free 2 and a foul on yourself thats real smart playing. I ve known Bobby since he has been here and his biggest peav is doing stupid things that hurts the team. The undercut could have hurt both teams. The officials let this game get a well out of control on both sides. If we have the same officiating at LA the score might be different but the emotions could get out of control again. Hopefully the officials will quit looking at the crowd and pay attention to the game.

So you are saying he was impressive but not successful? I would say anyone who can coach for that long in such a politically controlled school was very successful!

No, I do consider him successful. I was meaning that IMO a state championship would be more successful. But my post did make it sound like I didn't think he was successful. I should have worded it differently. Just my thoughts. You are right though, anyone that can coach that long in this town is a success.

Who called Coach Melton by Richard? I think you made the comment of maybe condoning dirty play? If you can call him Richard, then you know him on a first name basis. If you know him on a first name basis, you would also be intellectual enough to know that he does not condone dirty play. Period.

    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
    • Trez's last scandal has died down, so I guess this is there opportunity to be the best 4A team playing in 2A a la Sissy MTN.  At least they won't be in a Z-district with 1a teams in the regular season.
    • Facts...until someone takes down the Rebels they should be the favorite. Got loads of young guys salivating at the opportunity to prove themselves and get a 3peat! Blazer how is Region 1 looking this year?
