I wanted to start a new thread on the district. There will be many exciting rivalries that have taken place in basketball and baseball for several years in this district on the gridiron this fall.

There are going to be some rivalries that continue and some rivalries that resume after some years of not playing and also some brand new rivalries in the district. I know for instance that Stewart Co. vs Waverly Central & Harpeth vs Waverly Central have been games over the last couple of years despite the fact that the teams have not been in the same regions. Cheatham Co. vs Creek Wood, Creek Wood vs Montgomery Central, Montgomery Central vs Cheatham Co. have all been region games over the last four years. Camden has a past playoff history with Harpeth. Camden has also played Stewart Co. & Waverly Central. Cheatham Co. has not played Harpeth since 2006. Camden has never played Cheatham Co., Creek Wood, or Montgomery Central that I am aware of in recent memory.

POINT: Every week is going to bring district matchups that are going to require everyone to show up ready to play because there are going to be some close battles week in and week out in the district. A few plays here and there will be the difference between making the playoffs or going to the house after week ten concludes.

I'm glad the Fairview/Harpeth rivalry will continue in football since they are so close and the longest continuous series of any Harpeth opponent once Sycamore falls off the schedule this coming year. I kind of thought East Hickman might stay on the schedule as well, but the Indians stuck with Hickman County which has historically been on the schedule even when they were 4A.

I think Roark and Horkins already own all of the career passing and receiving records at Harpeth or are very close to having them all. I look for them to have big senior years. Running back wise, I'd need some help. What does Camden and Stewart County have coming back?

I don't doubt that Horkins is the all-time leading receiver in the history of Harpeth football. He has put together two excellent seasons the last two years. The school's all-time leading passer has to be Jimmy Gann. He was the starter from 2001-2003 and took the Indians to the playoffs twice in his three years as the starting QB.
