A Big Game on Broad Street

Sequatchie Co. is holding on to the top spot in district 6AA with a 10-0 district record. Chattanooga Christian is holding the number two spot with a 7-1 record with their only district loss coming to Sequatchie Co.. These teams met back in early December with Sequatchie Co. taking a nine point victory. It needs to be noted that Chattanooga Christian was without starting forward Chauncey Simmons due to sickness in that loss. With this game being a home game for the chargers, will the tide turn on the Lady Indians who are trying to continue their three year undefeated streak in district play. If Sequatchie Co. drives back down Broad Street with a victory, they will be well on their way to entering the district 6AA tournament as a undefeated number one seed for the third consecutive year.

He would score about 30 per game on our guys every single time. Real good player.

South Broad upsets Sequatchie in a game where the lady Indians went up 10-0 early.

However, it is VERY notable to add that Rachel Lockhart injured her knee in the 3rd quarter and missed the final 3 minutes of the 3rd and all of the 4th.

Edit score: 43-37

Well wishes to her and her injury. She left the gym on a pair of crutches we've had to use about eighty times this year.

That was a big part of the game but you have to go with who is available. This team knows that more than most and has still done well this season. It was 36-32 when she went down. CCS took it down the court and hit a 5 on 4 three-pointer to cut to it to one (you can't stop play for a defensive injury though Sequatchie certainly remembers a couple of years ago in the region when that wasn't the case). CCS got the lead for good with a silly foul on a layup, two and a free throw, with 10 seconds left in the quarter. After a Sequatchie offensive foul, about the only complaint I had with the refs as both teams were not set on their picks at times, CCS spread the court. They got up by 3 with 4:30 left and took most of the rest of the time off but Seq still just trailed 38-37 with 1:20 left. CCS missed the second free throw with the score 39-37 but got the rebound then made two more. Sequatchie didn't score again and CCS made enough free throws. Seq did not do a good job offensively in the fourth, even with CCS taking a lot of time off there were four turnovers and there was too much hesitation. They still have a tough road game at Bledsoe but a first place tie for the regular season district title is in reach or maybe first if CCS slips up anywhere. I would bet they'll be a lot more focused for East Ridge Friday than if tonight had been another win.
