I see region 3, 6 and 4 leaving some good teams at home at next years duals.

 

Region 7, 5 and 3 are going to be putting some miles on parents vehicles.

Looks like Cookeville will have a better chance to make the state duals: blink:

 

What will regions do about the number of matches? How many do they have to wrestle?

Dickson to Clarksville isn't a short trip for a match.

I see parents having a hard time getting to some matches after work because of the size of the new region.

My understanding is, you're required to wrestle the teams in your dual meet district once each, unless the district votes for a different plan. (And Dickson to pretty much any AAA school is a long drive...)

 

Note in particular that the dual meet districts and the traditional regions are no longer connected as of next year. (This largely because the concentration of teams in most parts of the state is in AAA, but in Chattanooga, it's mostly AA schools.)

It seems odd to me that the regions in some of the bigger revenue sports were created to save money on travel expenses, and then they create massive regions that stretch across the state for one of the lowest revenue sports that travel two to three times a week. I just don't understand it.

Actually, the dual districts are pretty compact, from what I can tell--it's only the individual regions that are sprawled out, and those only apply to one event a year.

Yes, but as a coach I don't to go into a region individual tournament without having the chance for my kid to wrestle everyone in his weightclass. Again, I think if they did individual district t'ments to qualify for regions it might be different, but they don't. So with 18 dates, 14 minus t'ments, I have to try to schedule 20 something teams, or go into seeding meetings where nobody has wrestled each other. I've been involved with those and it does not go well.
