JuanUribe
I"ll take Marion in the valley and Notre Dame in the city. I don't know about SeqCo's new coach but Marion has a good coach as well and has been thru the district. Hixson has new HC, as does ND (plus two young good assistants). CCS will be scrappy as always. citboy11
As a Sequatchie County Dad, I hope we can play up to our potential this year. I also know that to be the man you got to beat the man! Marion will be very good, you never count out a scrappy Grundy team, Hixson has been very good for a while, not sure about CCS, do not see them enough to know. Unless Notre Dame was holding back this weekend they looked very young in the two games i watched. I know our coaches and the boys are working hard, and we have played even with Marion with this age group. This district will be a dog fight this year, no clear cut favorite. alumni4
I wiil agree, most people expected too much in Bargers 1st year, but not me; and we beat Whitwell by 20 or 21 points I do believe. Second the Basketball team has a lot of talent and egos, they under achieved all year. Third the baseball team got jipped out of a win in the warrior game last year, but that was are own coaches fault. Having said all this, I believe Sequatchie will win the district in the valley side at least. hahahahaha... it'll never happen. muir and guyear are too much at marion. warriors will take it... again. scduke
hahahahaha... it'll never happen. muir and guyear are too much at marion. warriors will take it... again. Muir and Guyear are very good ballplayers and Marion has more than those two but we'll see who's laughing soon enough. Marion will have all they can handle from Sequatchie. Whoever wins the valley side of the district should win the district overall.

Guyear and Muir are outstanding players and deserve every bit of the attention they get, but Marion is more than just them two. It takes nine. I think Lloyd, Morgan, Murphy ,Hill, Shadrick or whom ever is playing the other seven positions are just as important to Marion's success this year. Good luck to everyone this year. IrishBaseball44
At Notre Dame, we should be fairly strong if we can keep the injury bug away. We're pretty strong with Howard, Breckenridge, Swinney, Fox and Luketic. We have a couple strong freshmen, who will challenge for positions this season (What's the old saying? Best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores?!), and DeoCampo is a walking triple. We had a tough showing in the Hixson Play Day, but we were without 3 of our best players for most of the day and we were simply outgunned against RedBank. We can play with Soddy with our first 9, but Atkins was tough and will only get better for RB. What an impressive kid. I haven't seen their other pitcher, Walden I believe it is, but if he's better than Atkins, RB will be tough all year long. We also saw their JR Quarterback/Hurler Andy Christopher? He'll be good with some polish(Could definitely touch 90+ with some work). We should be strong in our district with a full squad. We probably handle Bledsoe fairly easily with our district guys on the hill and our starting catcher behind the dish, though they battled us well and stranded 5 or 6 of our guys in scoring position. Grace played well, and we fell apart, but we were playing innings 15-20 at that point without enough arms to get the job done. I really liked the freshman they threw at us. He'll be one to watch in the next few years. I thought the lefties (3-4 in the order I think) from Soddy looked like they could swing a little bit and the Haney kid can flat out fly. He's a serious burner. Didn't see anything incredible on the mound, but they're definitely not bad. They could get the job done for sure. They'll just have to find the answer to Walden and Atkins. Other than Atkins I wasn't wowed by any of the arms we saw, but was glad to see most of the guys around the plate. We'll be alright at ND, and though we lost a lot from last year's squad, we're teaching our kids to play the game the right way. It's been pretty tough with no outdoor cage and a field that is a work in progress: we hadn't seen many live arms before the scrimmage day. Now that basketball is over, we'll get alot more swings in the gym before we open. Consider last weekend our rough draft, but look for us to compete for the district crown, at least on the city side. Final thought: If you have a left handed son- Send him to ND next year. I'll teach him to hit it a ton and it's a slight porch in right field (Read: 245 ft, with a 45 ft high net). Just imagine: Your kid could set the national homerun record....I'm just sayin... Go Irish!
GARGANTUAN
I may ###### a few ego's off but, I wanna know what senior is goin to step up and lead this Marion team...They been spoiled on the diamond with all the talent and coaching theyve played wit since they were freshman..(Im not sayin there less talented heck they are probably more talented)..... and i dont know except for maybe one or two that seen, learned from, and apprcaite all the hard work past seniors have put forth to get that program where it is at.....We will see how it goes...Ive always heard "leave a program better then what it was when you got there" With some heart I see Marion pullin off the unprecedented 4 peat..(but not as easy as it has been in the past (actually it never was easy, but this team has some ground to cover) on the other side I wanna go wit Hixson... Also as an above poster said you never can count out a Coach Ladd coached ball team in Grundy Co.....this is correct
Committeof1
This is how i see it. 1st level- Marion County- say what you want, but until somebody else can prove that they can win the district they are still the best. 3 in a row? come on. and all from the losers bracket i believe. Champs again in 09 2nd level-Hixson and Notre Dame. both schools have new coaches and lost a ton from last year, but when it comes time to play ball they will both be around. 3rd level- CCS and Sequatchie. the chargers are always scrappy, but cant seem to get it over the top. maybe this is the year. as far as sequatchie goes...rumor has it they had a good showing in the scrimmage, and maybe they jump all the way to the top, but its like the one guy said earlier "until they actually win something..." 4th level- Grundy. better than the bottom three. 5th level. East Ridge, BC, and Howard.
