Covington outscored the Choctaws by 8 in the 4th qtr to overcome a two point deficit...

 

DC hit 6 of 13 free throws and Covington hit 16 of 22.....

 

Covington tried to give the game away at the end...Covington had built a 82-75 with less than 30 seconds left...Yarbrough was fouled shooting a three and he hit all three free throws to cut the lead down to 82-78....Covington moved on the baseline resulting in a walking violation while bringing the ball inbounds and DC converted that mistake into a basket that cut the lead further down to two at 82-80....Covington inbounded and Walker, who had been perfect at the line, missed the first of two free throws but did hit the second to keep it at a one possession game at 83-80...DC called time-out...DC inbounded but the Choctaws, without Pearce or Crittendon who both had fouled out of the game earlier in the 4th qtr turned the ball over and Covington converted a three point play with two seconds left to win 86-80.....

we hate to lose, and i hate it even worse that i couldnt be there because of strep throat, but our season it not over.

monday night will be fun, win or lose. ive never been to innercity memphis, as neither have many Dyer County fans. im sure the people at BTW will be very hospitable to us.

there was almost a scuffle between the players at the end of the game. thats it.

i think covington has the quickness to handle dc pressure and i say they will win this one by 8.

 

 

 

the difference is that coach real will have guards that can handle the dc press this time. the way i see it is that mc cord has played about 6-8 games the past three years in which the other teams have had just as much talent and he lost 4 of those.

Congratulation's Covington and Coach Real ....... I guess with a little talent he is a pretty good coach... sure did hate to lose him but we understand his departure..... DC good luck going to BTW......on Monday and bring your A+ game because I can bet BTW fans have not forgotten there two games at the reservation the past two years they will be gunning for you.... covington may be quick but last time i checked mccord owns neon deon in head to head. wasn't it three double digits losses last year when he was at dyersburg? coaching makes a big difference this time of year and we have the advantage. dc by eleven in this one

 

 

 

In reference to your comment about Coach Real being owned by Mccord... TALENT also plays a part.... Dyersburg did not have the talent to play with DC last year or this year so if they (DHS) had been coached by the great John Wooden with Pat Summit as the assistant .....Dyersburg still would have lost....... Coach Real left because of a great opportunity and he knew what kind of talent Covington had coming back....also Coach R.... lost to Northside twice doing the regular season so .... his team is peaking at the right time......

 

So I don't think Coach McCord owns Coach Real... not yet let's hope they get to play a few more games with some talent on both teams and see what a difference coaching makes..... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

CJ, John Hudson, and Ced made the team. Well deserved. A nail biter indeed as I predicted. Some Covington fans were out of control and had to be escorted out of the gym. Also, Walker for Covington is a class act. After being fouled by Rex, he approached Rex to shake his hand and Rex blew him off. I never thought I would have seen that coming. At the end of the game, I leaned over the rail to see what would happen when Rex met up with Walker. It never got there. Rex was around CJ when they shook hands with one of the Covington players. Not sure if something was said but Rex and CJ went off. That was the start of the cops separating everyong. Coach Real was sure yelling at Coach McChord at the end of the game. He was furious at the way CJ and Rex handled the situation and wanted to let him know. McChord wasn't listening to him though because it was so loud in there. As far as the refs in this game, not too bad. A few bad calls against both teams. Nothing that changed the game or outcome which is good. Another game that was worth the price of admission.

Congrats Covington! What else can you say...but congrats. Was a heck of a game!!! I got a pounding headache /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":lol:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Janes, Hudson and Crittendon were All District. Bottom line we played a team with experienced seniors and we held our own.....this season ain't over yet.
