Maybe it's just me, but those seem like some weak preseason scrimmages for schools the size of Warren and Dekalb.

As far as Dekalb's season goes, if they don't find some defense this year, they may have trouble.

They have the kids to play it, but I wonder about the coaching and personnel selection on defense.

However, I don wish them luck this season.

How much you know about Cascade croz. They won their first 12 games last year, before losing in playoffs to finish (12-1), and most importantly they have alot of those players back this year. Very good team with very high hopes this year. And DeKalb went back and forth with them all night.

Also DeKalb had to drop out of Jamboree because of illness. So there is one less opponent for DC.

Hey I got no problem with the smaller schools. DeKalb might be 4A, but if you take a drive through Smithville you probably would never guess that. Whether you got 500 students or 2000 students, you can only put 11 out there at a time right. If you can play then it doesnt matter what classification your in.

I know you are referring to my previous posts. Im saying if Warren, Greenbrier, or McMinn Central rolled into Watertown it would not be pretty. If they rolled down to Cascade you would probably get a very good game. Cascade is a program competing for championships, if I am not mistaken they won a state title a few years back. Got to respect that.

Whether this is a good decision by the DeKalb coaching staff or not (I think it is!). It looks like Poteete will play safety this year. As good as he is on Offense (he got robbed in the Mr Football Award last year by the kid from David Lipscomb) he is as good or better on defense. Think about that for a second. He could end up with 6 or 7 picks this year (or none of course). Only time will tell.

Hey Jug: The depleated OL replacements had better show up or Potette won't have as good a year as he had last year - "think about that for a second".

I think it is a good move. You must have your best players on the field to give yourself the best chance to win. I've always been partial to QB's that play defense. My old school mentality I guess.

No doubt about it. OL and DL will be our only holes this year and obviously that can make or break a team. I was a lineman (DL) myself and understand the importance of the line. Now, if there is any QB in the state that can play and succeed behind a makeshift line it is Poteete, which is why I still have high expecatations of this team. I think they will come together, I just hope 'Teete is in early season shape for all the running he will be doing!

The scary thing is his numbers will probably be better this year! I expect to be in many shootouts this year due to the lack of linemen and a great Defense.

Senior WR Travon Johnson Likely Out For Season

More awful news for DeKalb Tigers. Looks like Senior WR Travon Johnson will probably be lost for the season due to a knee injury. This being the second player we have also lost, the other being starting linebacker Kevin Kijanski for the season. I can not explain how huge of a loss this is for DC. Really expected big things out of Travon this year, and having him as a threat also took a little focus off our other great receiver Abram Edwards. Almost makes you sick at your stomach hearing news like this.

DeKalb has already had their share of bad luck and we havent even played the first game. First losing Kijanski to knee injury, then sickness which lead to cancellation of the Jamboree, and now losing one of their extremely talented team captains.

I know Coach Trapp and the Tigers will not use this as an excuse. They will keep working and make the most of the upcoming season, but hopefully their luck will change.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
