District tournaments canceled

I don't ever remember it happening but with the forecast for this week it now looks possible. Tuesday at least in this area seems like a day games could be played, I'd hope each team could play two games Tuesday even if it means some changing to a different location if needed. The district here has 8 teams left so there's plenty of ball left.

The AA districts in this area, 5-AA and 6-AA had Sweetwater, Meigs and Sequatchie, Chattanooga Christian as their regular season winner and runner-up. I'd rather the tournaments be played out but at least in these there were a clear 1 and 2 on district records. What I'd hate to see is a tiebreaker having to determine the #1 and #2 in certain districts. For tournament seeding, fine, but it would be bad to see it determine who goes to the region if teams at the top have the same district record. Say team A defeated team B but lost to C, and B defeated C. One would be out of luck if the tournaments aren't played.

I don't know about cancelling anything at this point. However, some tourneys better be finding a way to squeeze more games into the couple of dry days that we will hopefully get this week. Tomorrow(Tuesday) looks like most folks can play, after that it gets iffy. Wednesday looks wet, and Friday is looking like another rain day. That leaves Tues and Thursday to hopefully get everything in. I'd hate to risk pushing into Friday or Saturday with rain now back in the forecast for Friday.

District 2AA games are being moved from Union Co. to Pigeon Forge. Games have also been pushed back an hour. Game 1 will begin at 6:00 p.m. (Pigeon Forge vs. Union Co.) and Game 2 will begin at 8 p.m. (Grainger vs. Claiborne).

6:00 game got rained out after top of fifth with the game being called in Pigeon Forge's favor as they held the lead 3-1. The 8:00 game has been postponed to 4:30 tomorrow. Elimination game being held at 6:00, and winners game at 8:00 to get all games back on schedule.

And, there's a 40% chance of showers and scattered thunderstorms in the Pigeon Forge area tomorrow by the way. /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

I've got the perfect solution to this problem. Let all the head coaches and assistant coaches meet at the pitchers mound and "mud wrestle". Winner takes all! Last one pinned gets second place and the one who pinns gets first place. Seriously, it's a shame to end the season with the possibility of so many games being canceled due to weather with no time for make-ups. Maybe the "mud wrestling" isn't such a bad idea after all! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
    • What coach in their right mind would want to come here and set theirself on fire to keep her warm.
    • Shoulder not going to the #### show .   Macon will name the score this year.
    • Plenty of time. The former coach was busy with family and disappeared all summer anyway. Obvious choice has the same family issues. First game is in March 2025.
