Well, I may be over here on the wrong boards, but I'll throw in my $0.02. I consider myself a pretty knowledgable high school football fan. To tell the truth, I've never even heard of the West Rebels. That should tell you a little something!!! Maybe the reason for that is because y'all have never accomplished anything. Some comments made about Gallatin and Melrose just show's your lack of intelligence. Like someone else said earlier, Melrose has more ath. in the band than you have walking through your halls! West Rebels.... give me a break. Are you even in the top 5 in Knoxville???

As for Catholic going after our record, it's going to be tough. 733 points in a season and it's held since 1997. Pretty much have to play 15 games, but I'm guessing that's probably your goal.

Here's our scores for that year: 19-7, 91-0, 24-0, 60-0, 42-7, 45-7, 56-8, 56-0, 56-6, 45-8, 49-6, 41-7, 56-0, 48-7, 45-0.

Of course the starters only played in 3 full games (highlighted), with the last being the Championship. Good luck! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Depends on how you define recent history. Last ten years no. Since the TSSAA instituted the playoffs as we know it today, yes 3 times. Been runner-up another 3 times as well.

Gallatin was a AAA powerhouse, before TSSAA introduced the new classification system in 1993. Gallatin hasn't had the same success since. Don't get me wrong, they still have a solid football program, but they have only won 6 playoff games since 1993, and they've only been beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs once (2001) since then.

True.

In the context of how this all started, by a Knox West fan downgrading Gallatin, I contend they still don't compare.

Hmm wow, i think they are running on a platform of the most scored this year, but that would be an outstanding record to break. 91-0????? Thats awesome.

It seems many of you equate gold balls with winning programs. To have a winning program year in and year out with playoff appearances is nothing to be scorned. Even without state championships. Most schools have a 3-5 year run. Some, like Maryville have a ten year run. But how many have a ranked program historically since their inception? There are few statewide. Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett is one. Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville are the statistical powerhouses. When an area is considered a powerhouse that means all the competition in those regions is stiff. Knox West is always a player and raises the bar for the schools that play them. The lack of a gold ball should not demean them especially coming from a powerhouse region.

I agree with the last sentence especially. I am not sure about the large metro areas being "statistical powerhouses". I think some of the traditionally rich schools outside these areas such as Kingsport Dobyns Bennett, Oak Ridge, Lincoln Co., Maryville, Germantown, etc. are more your statistical powerhouses. Just because competition may be stiff it does not mean necessarily that those regions/districts are tougher compared to statewide competition. Take Nashville for instance, Hillsboro has had a nice run of late, before that Pearl Cohn in the late 90's,Stratford in the early 90's, Whites Creek in the late 80's, and Overton in the early 80's. But rare did you see multiple really tough metro schools at the same time. Hence the competition was not what it was statewide. But I get what you are saying. If you overlook a team such as Knox West they will beat you.

City schools win something like 70% of the time when they play games against County schools. I just thought that is an interesting statistic.

That is an interesting statistic. I guess my team Gallatin really bucked the norm then. While the Wave was in the region with the metro Nashville schools, they went 31-9, and 3 of those losses were by forfeit. If you go back further than 01' it gets even worse for the Nashville city schools. I know for a fact that Oak Ridge used to dominate the Knoxville schools and so did Germantown to the innercity Memphis schools. I guess these examples might be the exception.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
