One of the best rivalries in the state. This is the game both teams look forward too their whole season. White House was off last weak playing in a jamboree vs. Gallatin. Herd they took it to them. Portland had a bad outing last week but look to pick it up this week against WHHS. Portland will learn a lot from last week’s game and be ready to go. Portland has 6 or more returning starters on offense and 7 or more on defense, with that type of experience I look for Portland to rebound quickly. White House lost a lot of starters off a talented 08 team. (They should have won state) With around 4 returning starters on both sides of the ball. Looks to be a good game, as to be expected when these two teams come together.

I will give you Panther fans on here credit. You all never give up. Your team is terrible year after year but you all keep holding on to hope that one year they might turn it around.

The principal searched high and low for an excellent coach. No one wanted the job so they gave it to an inexperienced coach. Give the guy a break, would ya? I'm sure he will pull it together Friday night against the Blue Devils.

Portland’s Principal has done a great job of hiring coaches. He has hired 5 new coaches who work well with the athletes at Portland. He went out and hired a boys basketball coach from Brentwood. (Who has coached at several colleges and knows what it takes to play at that level). A boys baseball coach from Chattanooga who is very passionate about the game . A football coach from Murfreesboro who is very knowledgeable and has played in a state championship game (so he knows what it takes to get there. He also doesn’t run wing-t, big plus). A girls basketball coach from Alabama that is very energetic, and a soccer coach from Gallatin who has taken them to the playoffs. Portland’s Principal is also working to get them off the states target list for graduation. So hold up before you start calling someone shady . Portland will be ready Friday night, they have something to prove. Portland 7 WHHS 0.

How successful have all of these new coaches been at Portland?

Did their teams improve from the last year with the old coach to the new year with the new coach? I know that the Girls Soccer coach was successful this year, but is that the sport that the City of Portland/Portland High School is going to hang its collective hat on?
