White House vs. Portland (best rivalry in state)

Recommended Posts

Despite making many mistakes and playing rather sloppy in the first half, the Devils win over the Panthers yet again. Way to go BDP. I listened to the replay this morning on the Portland radio station, and they accused WH of playing overly aggressive and also blamed the officials (who I admit, managed the game fairly poorly as far as time and indecisiveness after penalties). When all else fails, blame everyone but yourself I guess. That being said, I hate to see Portland struggling, but am always happy to get a victory over our rivals.

Also like to point out that White House's crowd was HUGE, but Portland had empty spots on that small visitors side. It wasn't like that years ago when their side was standing room only.

GO BIG BLUE. Good luck to the Panthers as well....

Final score 32-2 White House

I was suprised at the score. I looked for the Panthers to pull this one out with WH losing so many of their guys from last year. Sorry, but it looks like Portland is in for another long year.

Heard PTown had several unsportsmanlike conduct calls against them. What was that all about?

You heard correct. Apparently they weren't agreeing with the calls being made on the field by the officials and proceeded to mouth about it. I know one panther was ejected from the game. There was extra pushing and shoving after the plays from both teams, but when you mouth at the refs, out comes the hanky.... I figured the game would have a little of that going on, but IMO portland took it to the next level when the score started to get one-sided and it cost them on the field. Not a very classy showing by the boys in purple!!!!

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
