MAPLEWOOD AT M.B.A. THIS WEEK

I would be delighted to talk trash; you know I've never left a good skunk fight (at least not in the early rounds). However, I'm handicapped by the fact that I only read and write English, and I'm afraid I don't understand a lot of what's being said here.

 

As to the Byrnes game (or the Trinity game, or the Bolles game, or the Moeller game, or...well, you get the drift), I never got the idea that MBA scheduled these games with an eye towards taking these teams (public or private...the publics are the ones who pushed for the split) to the woodshed. I always assumed it had something to do with testing one's program, seeking challenges, things like that. Conicidentally, there was once an idea that sports taught these things. Sadly, this quaint notion has died the same sad and lonely death that also claimed sportsmanship, class, and stimulating, intelligent discussion on this board.

 

I couldn't agree with you more, KWoodroof. MBA has partaken in many challenges, coming out on top more often than not. The Byrnes game was simply a blow up game for MBA. I think every play called for Byrnes worked out and MBA could not do anything right. That explains the lop-sided score. I hate to jump into college football, but how many times did UT get blown out by Florida and turn around and win against Georgia or Alabama? Im simply stating that MBA just had a bad day that day. I know if they played again the score would not be similar at all.

 

Also of note, Byrnes went up to Ohio and barely scraped by Moeller. MBA blasted Moeller. At least MBA takes on those tougher challenges.

MBA long and storied history speaks for itself and needs no defense. I can predict that Maplewood as anyone else who plays the Big Red will know they have been in a tough and hard fought football game.

All i got to say is Maplewood better come with their helmets strapped up tight friday night because they will be in for a slugfest. Athlete per athlete Maplewood comes out on top but when it all comes down to it MBA's discipline and toughness will lead them to victory.

 

Trust me being around MBA football for many years we went into most games with less physical talent (BA,Hillsboro,Antioch and etc..) but came out on top because MBA played as a team and didn't care about who got the glory or name in the paper.

 

This ought to be a great game between to great programs Friday night and I can't wait to watch. But I believe MBA comes out on top 34-12. Roll Red Roll!!

I am glad MBA fans are not talking trash this week. Given the flak being given thus far without any provocation, I can only imagine what the comments would be if they were actually trying to get under people's skin.

 

The Byrnes loss was demoralizing; some programs in this state would have folded like a cheap suit after such a game. For MBA to come back and beat the eventual KY large class state champs the following week, and maintain a strong showing through the 2005 DII season, shows the resolve of MBA's kids and program. While it still pains me to see that margin of victory, I remain proud that MBA showed enough sac(k) to play such a high-caliber, star-studded program. If MBA should be humiliated by such a loss, then some of the fans of so-called regional or national powers in this state should feel silly for even proclaiming to be the programs they fancy themselves being, given the non-region/district schedules their teams play. Great schedules don't necessarily make "regional" or "national" powers, but soft schedules definitely do not.

 

MBA will have its hands full with Maplewood, and I don't think any MBA fan on here (or even non-MBA fan for that matter) can be quoted as comparing P-C to Maplewood. And as for that P-C game, I will not sit here and discredit P-C - they are improved, their players didn't play dirty, and they had a good fan following that night. But, as much as that game is being touted as close in some circles (and it indeed was on the scoreboard for much of the game), it was a 5-1 MBA yardage advantage (and 10-to-1 if you take out the 50-yard P-C TD run). MBA fumbled once in P-C's end zone and was in the red zone at the end of the game. And, if memory serves, MBA did not punt all night. I think any fan of any team would take a season's worth of similar close victories.

 

ok ..ill give you guys a break this time ..game 1 seemed to have opened a few folks eyes and shut their mouths (burroball what up fellow?) .... but dont expect to football team to take it easy on you like i did this week ...just think what i would have said had i been provoked .....man im talking flak jacket on this jammer!!

 

all joking aside this should be a great game ..looking forward to visiting mba ..last time i was there was "95 doug hall relays" ...

It's kind of funny that you say Maplewood and the law in the same sentence. If Maplewood's players can stay on the right side of it, they may have a good season!

Oh, I know - I have been watching those Maplewood-Hillsboro threads for years! Actually, they are quite entertaining, in large part thanks to you. You really can make those guys squirm sometimes.

yeah Kwoodcups i never liked you either ...but since youre here i just have to deal with you the best way i know how.... now back to the game ..big red scores 12 maplewood scores 32 ..someone seemed to have the score reversed ..i fixed that for ya....
