Huntingdon scored a huge TD there near the end of the 1st half because they receive the ball to open the second half....

 

Union City received the opening kick-off only to go three and out to start the game...Huntingdon then went on a nice 69 yard drive to open the scoring at 7-0....UC then put up 4 impressive, unanswered TD's to make it 28-7...Huntingdon missed an extra point that could be key later in the game....So far a good game if you are a Tornado fan but Mustang fans have hope to open the second half with the ball and down 15 points....We'll see if the depth of Huntingdon that has been talked about will come into play in the 4th quarter...Huntingdon has one turnover....Some stats...

 

Union City has 229 yards rushing and 20 yards passing.....Huntingdon has 146 yards rushing and 6 yards passing...

On 4th and 2 for Huntingdon with about 4:15 left in the game the Mustangs went for the first down...Holder was dropped for a 4 yard loss but Union City was flagged for a facemask penalty...Huntingdon accepted the penalty but that only made the down and distance at 4th and 1....Huntingdon was about to snap the ball but the Union City coaching staff called for the officials to the sidelines for a conference...After about a 5 minute pow-wow, the officials gave the ball to the Tornadoes...Then the Huntingdon staff called the officials to their sidelines and after another few minutes the refs gave the ball back to Huntingdon....Huntingdon then attempted another 4th down in which Holder got the yards for the first down.....Huntingdon then went down to score the TD....

Congrats Huntingdon. I dont think that yall will lose another game until the playoffs...and then, maybe not then either. UC is a good team if yall played Huntingdon this close. UC and Huntingdon are the two teams in W. TN in 1A that have a chance of going all the way. I suspect that they will be meeting again in the playoffs. I will try to be at that game.

Honestly, I was shocked by this game. I thought Huntingdon would own the entire game. Sounds like they owned the 2nd half. Good game to both teams. I believe 1A football is alive and well in West Tn.
