awe man is this going to be a fun year or what!

I think so RDMan.....u been in hibernation or what??....I thought Phargis might have ran you off....hehehe :ugeek: Sorry, Mr. Phargis I couldn't resist.

What's yall take on the beginning of district play next week?? Who is Riverdale playing? Too lazy to go & look at the schedule.

Ok Jazzy Lady, RD has a way of taking care of himself but the question some of the Blackman fans are asking is are the Lavergne fans going to support the team this year? Here you have one of the best teams in the STATE and granted a talented group of players but it takes FANS to pull it all together and a place to sit. Certainly its laVergne's strategy to get a big start over Blackman with a outstanding win and go to #1 in the standings, but Blackman fans know it takes their fans to help pull the team thru in those games that have been close so far this year. It's almost been the "Cardiac" Blaze with those close games.s At this posting, two undefeated schools with great possibilities.

Blackman fans and students can fill up the gym, They know what this game means, to get the season started right. Lavergne fans are sort of "laid back" but they can "come alive". So the prediction is the school who supports their team with the most fans will win. No doubt the game will be close. No doubt the Blackman fans will try to get the best seats. Let's see, the game starts at 6:30. The Battle of Rutherford? This one will be remembered all season as to who got the jump in standings.

My prediction is that Lavergne will beat the tar out of blackman even if they have no fans. :thumb:

Riverdale freshman Tyisha Petty had 17 points to lead all scorers. Shacobia Barbee added 14 and 11 rebounds. Jaclissa Haislip and Aubrey Jernigan each had 12.

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW...our girls looked REALLY good tonight we hit all of our shots it seemed like and really crashed the boards HARD! and protected the ball really good. we played a lot of players tonight! I am real proud of these girls and their efforts i am not sure of the score but the mercy rule was in effect in the 4th QTR

Lavergne won 50-46 over Blackman. Blackman led by 5 going into the 4th quarter but had a couple of mistakes down the stretch. Lavergne was shooting the bonus most of the 4th quarter.

Great game....First, 2 qrts were pretty even, Blackman had a 3 right before halftime that put them up by 4. Steph had 2 fouls & didn't play much in the 2nd qrt. Blackman was on fire the 3rd qrt, I don't think they missed a shot. LaVergne's defense picked up in the 4th that caused some crucial turnovers. I believe if LaVergne had pressed before the 4th qrt, they would not have to fight so hard to get this victory. We appeared to play Blackman's halfcourt game vs. picking up the pace and playing to our strengths. Anyways....glad for the victory and it's going to be a great district race.

Blackman just missed shots @ the end. We had chances & good open looks, just missed them. It wasn't Lavergne's defense that caused those missed shots. LaVergne also made their free throws. We had 6 fouls to Lavergne's 2 early in the 4th quarter so they got chances @ the foul line & took advantage. I'm proud of the girls, defensively they did what they needed to do, just have to up the offensive production, which was already a problem before this game.

The girls should be proud of themselves tonight. They fought through to the end. I appreciate Phargis putting up the box score. Hopefully, the paper will have the foul counts and freethrow information. I don't think it was so much the fouls called but the ones that weren't toward the end. May be wrong, but I only remember about 10 FTA by Blackman. Lavergen's best defender was the blonde headed guy running the moving screen on the right wing. Forced the Blackman point to pick up her dribble multiple times during the night. Maybe he was tired and just couldn't get out of the way. :flower:
