What about the weather, In a decidedly offense vs defense game doesnt the soggy/mushy conditions favor the defense some ????

Excellant Point: Been raining forever. I hope they play. My daughter's College game was cancelled today as they play on grass. We've cancelled 2 and should have cancelled 2 others. Glad I'm AquaDog. Thanks G, me like it. :thumb:

Revised prediction:

Houston 2

G'Town 0

Remember to surface when you only have 500 PSI left.

It is usually total goals scored, followed by goal differential.

i may be wrong but i think i heard that each district sets its own tie breaker system and not TSSAA.

Canes...if what you said is true....i don't agree with it (not personal, I know you didn't set the rules)....in this case you could have both houston and collierville and germantown running up the score on southwind and ridgeway, etc just to get goals scored....doesn't bode well for sportsmanship.....i support goal differential up to a goal max per game...say 5...then either goals allowed or goals scored...but i support differential being first first.

If what you said is true...if gtown and houston were to tie and gtown had played cupcake schedule and run up the scores then they could be the one seed when everyone knows that on most days houston is better.

do you know if the comparison is within district games, common opponents or total record...if total record that seems silly because you might be comparing apples to oranges.....

Interesting info....thanks

I went to see what TSSAA says about tie breakers and there isn't anything addressed about this, not surprised. SO, those teams that have run 18-0, 17-0 have done the right thing here (sarcastic). I would hope there is a goal maximum when it comes to tie breakers (ie max 3 per game). This would not help the Germantown team as I see they haven't scored much this year anyway.

I have always heard and do believe, that defense wins championships. I will be interested to see the out come of the Houston and Germantown game.

canes where did you see that, I have googled it and checked the tssaa site and havent seen anything.

Another thread started on the soccer board asked the same question and it was said to be up to the district to set its own tiebreaking procedures, still unable to confirm thru Tssaa.

You are correct, SmallTeam. The TSSAA does not have anything to do with how a district settles a tie breaker. About 5 years ago, I called them about this, and they suggested flipping a coin. This is the reason that (at least for the guys season) we meet and vote on a fairly long district "constitution" that goes over many different situations, but specifically tie breakers. We use:

1. 3 point system

2. head to head

3. 10 point system

4. least goals allowed

5. total goals scored

6. coin flip (hey, gotta use the wisdom of the TSSAA)

Notice that the total goals scored is 5th in the tie breaker so that teams aren't driven to have 15-0 scores. More importantly is to keep a clean sheet and not get scored on.

Here is what I found out . By the way when is this game, I may travel from Jackson to see that game, If anyone knows let me know when and where.

Offense vs Defense:

Common opponents between Houston & Germantown

White Station, Oakridge, Greenwood Ky, Hutchinson, St.Marys,Briarcrest,Bolton, Collierville.

Houston 37 goals for 13 goals against

Germantown 11 goals for 5 goals against

This has the makings of a good old Slobbernocker.

If anyone can tell me wherethis game is played and when , me and the wifey may make the trip.!

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
