daddygreenwave
Maybe things will at some point turn around for the Portland program. Some of you die-hard P-town fans please correct me if I am wrong but I have been following Panther football for many years and to my knowledge this is the first year in their history they have ever had a 0-10 record. Is that right?

I was at PHS and MJ game and there is some talent on that team. I don't know why your coach didn't keep passing the ball on MJ. MJ couldn't stop the short passes. It looks like a lack of coaching at least from the game I seen them play. The kids looked as they were giving it their all.
eers
This is what I've been saying the entire time. The talent just isn't there and hasn't been. These coaches are no better than the previous. My question still remains how long is the rope in Portland? The coaching wasn't the problem then, but it was the easiest to blame for bad play and a team that doesn't have the talent of the teams they are playing. The community needs to realize the program isn't what it once was and I don't know that it will return anytime soon, if ever. I believe portland just may be turning into a stepping stone for coaches in the future. Appears to me if you can have a winning season or perhaps make the playoffs, someone at a decent program will give you a shot. If you can win here, you can win anywhere! Check your facts before you open your ignorant mouth. Which 1 of the 4 varsity coaches is slacking?

Yes, they played Beech, Station Camp, Greenbrier, Mt. Juliet, & White House last year. They lost to all of those teams last year and this year. eers
I figured that they would win at least half of those games, seeing that you got the new coaching staff. That was the problem over the last few years, right? Bad coaching? Couldn't be the lack of athletes?

SCBisondad
Hey ppp, the fact I was making was that MJ couldn't stop the pass so why not keep chucking the ball. Who cares if it was 38 times or whatever. Why not keep throwing it until the other team stops it. That was my point. As for as my ignorant mouth, bring it! I guess that's really my point, but it was really easy for the community and all the "fans" to blame the coaches. They were good guys and good coaches.the problem is reality. A mule isn't going to win the Kentucky Derby... The previous coaching staff were excellent coaches. However, how you treat players, parents, and administration is totally different. There is a reason why you had 8+ players (a lot of them being starters) parents, and community quit on the staff last year 3 games into the season.
