First, the refs will not determine the outcome of the MAryville/Farragut game. I fully expect that the best prepared team will win. With that said, I don't understand how the refs are chosen for these games. The crew at Farragut last night was the same inept crew that called the Farragut/Maryville game earlier this year. It doesn't appear that the TSSAA has a rule to rotate the crews for teh playoffs.

Because it was 2 Knox Co. teams the officials were also from Knox.

Congratulations to Bearden on a really fine season. That's the kind of game I expect when Farragut and Bearden play one another. I'm sure the Farragut fans prefer the blowouts, but those have been pretty few and usually far apart. Bearden finished strong this year in one of the state's toughest districts. After those lop-sided, back-to-back losses in weeks 6 and 7 Bearden went back to work and got better -- and healthier. To see the way the team responded after playing its toughest competition makes me think Bearden would benefit from playing some tougher non-district opponents earlier in the season, but there's no denying that less-than-tough road assured the Bulldogs a wildcard spot in the playoffs. Some would say District 4 is tough enough, but I'd like to see Bearden play a D-B, Sevier Co., or McMinn Co. early in the season. Had this team gone 7-3 rather than 8-2 in the regular season it would have still been a wildcard qualifier.

Congratulations also to Farragut. It may not have been a win that racked up style points, but it had plenty of defensive grit. Good luck to the Admirals.

    • Mancoverage sez: This thread has been an absolute delight! Absolutely marvelous! Such eloquent and rosy prose, contained here in, is so seldom found amongst the more jocular subset of our species. The brilliant author behind such poetic use of an obviously deep and broad vernacular, reminds me of the other-worldly talents of Oscar Wilde. I humbly thank you, kind sir, for so generously sharing your elegantly loquacious gifts. The Goat sez: You better watch your back, Lord Byron, I’m sure poetry isn’t the only talent and passion that the author shares with Oscar Wilde.

    • Cleveland has a good booster club, I would assume. Don’t believe Red Bank even has one, but at BC, it’s a mix of coaches and players on the team.
