Wow the EHS football team finally won some kind of championship.

Real cool. Considering it is their third year as a FULL varsity team.

I am not condoning the shot taken at EHS earlier in this thread.

With that said, the "youth" of Ensworth's football program is no longer an excuse. It wasn't much of an excuse even in 2007 (when Ricky chalked up MBA's 14-0 win - hardly a dominating win - to the fact "they've played 1,000 games; we've played six"), when EHS went 9-3, losing to a 13-0 state champion MBA team, an 11-2 state runner-up BA team, and a 9-3 Father Ryan team. Ensworth was a one-loss state championship game contender in 2008 (although nobody was beating MUS last year) and was a one-loss state championship game contender this year.

Ensworth is a new school, but the football program (not to mention the basketball program) is not your typical three-year-old program. Ensworth's youth as a program was never a game-changing issue going into any of its games this year. It shouldn't be an issue after the games either.

Yeah, I fully agree with you. The youth of the team isn't an excuse anymore nor is it a problem, however I was referring to the amount of seasons. For example the two DII teams with the most championships, MBA and BA, average 1 championship for about every six years?? Correct me if I'm wrong. I meant it in the way that Ensworth will eventually get one, but that they have had only three opportunities to do so. If they don't get one in the next 5-10 years, then people can start making comments about it. We agree, just on two different interpretations of an easily misunderstood comment.

    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
