Always good to see newbies making rash predictions in a rivalry game. I think they'll play 5 on 5 so Tarwater and Whiteside might want to bring some friends. Catholic is playing very well as a team. Both teams are well coached and it will be a close game that should come down to execution. You can pretty much throw out the records in this game. I don't remember many times in the past when you could say neither team had a chance. Catholic's depth may give them a slight edge especially if Tarwater or Whiteside get into foul trouble or suffer an injury. Tarwater is an excellent player but the Irish just swept Lenoir City which has a player every bit as good. Catholic is a very tough, hard nosed team that will make the Spartans work for everything they get.

Go Irish!

I agree and will even go as far as predicting a Catholic win. If you can beat Lenoir City twice... people should be talking.

I don't think Webb played West. West doesn't show it as a win on their schedule.

I know they did I was at the game. It was back in November at West. It appears that West and Webb have incomplete schedules listed on CoachT. However, the game was listed on Webb's website.

I would assume it was a Hall of Fame game which schools have the option of counting as an exhibition game. That's why some of Catholic's wins against Farragut in the past have appeared as Ws on the Catholic schedule and not appeared on the Admiral's schedule.

Also, ScottA remember that the Spartans would have been without their football players which have made an impact since joining the team. The Spartans had a very good shot at beating Bearden with Tarwater hampered by foul trouble. Can't overlook them!

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
