Any Sophomore or Juniors in this district that their school does not have a summer team or want to play a higher level of baseball should consider going to play for Columbia Post 19 17U team. Pippenger from WC played last summer earning Most Outstanding Player for the 2009 American Legion 17U State Champions. Pippenger will be back this summer. Ray and one of the Rice brothers if not both also plan to play this summer. The team will play around 40-50 games with doubleheaders and 7-8 tournaments. Season runs from Memorial Day Weekend until around July 21. The player fee is $200.00. That will help cover uniform, player insurance, tournament fees, equipment, etc... A open tryout will be held in May. The date will be announce at a later. Anyone interested should take a look at the following website.

It's my understanding that the same guy is coaching Post 19 Jr team. They won the state tournment last year with a really good team. From looking at their web site they have several back.

Hoping to repeat as the American Legion State Champions. Several key players from last years team returns with some new comers that could very well make a repeat possible.

I saw several players at Loretto's tournment that looked to be pretty good players. That Butler kid from WC hit well. I saw several HRs but 10 of them were on the smaller field. Pippenger from WC hit 4.

We took a look at several kids at the tournament. A few has been added to the team but not announced yet.

I'm glad to see the sun shinning today. WC will play S'town today at WC and make up yesterday's game tomorrow in S'town. I'm ready to get started I hope the WC players are ready. Go Cats!!!!!

PC beat Loretto tonight looked good . So they may have some players in the top 15.

Who looked good for PC? Who pitched? WC lost to S'town 8-4. Thomas Huddleston looked very sharp for 4 full innings (perfect game at that point). Pippenger (my #1 player for this district) went deep and Ray followed with a hit. That opened up WC hitting some & WC managed 4 runs with some help. Rice came in about the 4th inning and shut S'town down. Rice looked good on the mound.

How many bombs does Pipp have? He hit around 4 in the Loretto tournament.

5 Total. Yesterday's was a blast to LC which broke up a perfect game for Huddleston in the bottom of the 5th. WC's field is huge compared to the small field at Loretto.

Small field or not a homerun is a homerun. The way I look at it is all the other teams and players had an opportunity to hit on those same fields. Pipp made the best of it. Brochu from SH hit 4 bombs on that field also.

You're right about a home run being a home run. I was trying to express how big of a shot that was that Pipp hit yesterday. Pipp & Ray went back to back twice on that field at Loretto.

    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
