West Tennessee, Be Real!!!!!

Dear West Tennessee, especially Region 7AA. I am so tired of your bull!! When was the last time a team from West Tennessee won a state tournament before Gibson County won last year? You go on and on about your sub-state dominance and great teams and coaches. Be for real!!! I agree that there is good basketball in your part of the state. But it's not the only good basketball. As for the Memphis teams, unless they are overwhelmingly better than your teams in sub-state competition, they don't stand a chance. Why is that West Tennessee? If you were honest with yourself, you'd admit it's m o n e y!!!!!How many times has West Tennessee fans had to watch the other team shoot 53 free throws and their team only shoot 13 and you lose by less than 10 points? How many times have "neutral" officials showed up to call your sectional game and your principal didn't know each of them by their first and last names? How happy do you think the TSSAA would be if a Memphis team with 30 fans showed up in Murfreesboro instead of your team with about 2000 fans? Until the TSSAA changes the current playoff format the injustices will continue. Until they rotate the place of the state championships, they risk having finals with less than half the arena being filled. The playoffs are manipulated and you know it.

I saw a wonderfull basketball game on yesterday when Fairley defeated Manassas in triple overtime. The coaches from Martin Westview and Gibson County who scouted the game, will probably tell you that both teams are very talented. I hope the integrity of the TSSAA will not be questioned when the games are over Saturday night. May the expression, "MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!", be fulfilled!

So why did 13AA teams win SIX sectional games in Memphis this decade?

2001 - Westview beat Ridgeway

2003 - Westview beat Ridgeway

2004 - Crockett Co. beat B.T. Washington

2005 - Obion Central beat Hillcrest

2008 - Milan beat Hillcrest

2009 - Westview beat Mitchell

But more importantly, how did FIVE Memphis teams make it to the state championship game?

2000 - Hamilton, AAA runner-up

2004 - Craigmont, AAA runner-up

2006 - Hillcrest, AA champion

2007 - Northside, AAA runner-up

2009 - Central, AAA runner-up

Did they "manipulate," too? Maybe it was because they were simply better than their competition.

What really needs to happen is they send teams in different directions that way once the true powers from the middle and east dominate the sectionals and substates (like it used to be) then there would actually be some attendance in the stands at Murphy center. West Tn fans don't travel well, never have never will. T$$AA already knows this but if they did it this way you wouldn't see alot of teams from West Tn ever make it to the state tournament. Even less would make it in football. Middle and East dominate over the west in girls basketball year in and year out its a proven fact but i guess we all have to just deal with the system the way it is as broke as it is!!! so since we cant change that how about more the 5 of ya'll make the trip this year and support your team? :motorbike:

I'm not sure of the years or exactly how many times they've won, but I'm pretty sure in single A that Gleason & Bradford have represented West Tn. very well the past few years. I believe Madison was in the single A championship last year with Morgan Faulkner also.

As far as the West bringing fans that sounds pretty lame. I know that if Scotts Hill wins tomorrow night they'll load the entire town in a bus & head to Murfreesboro.

I don't know a lot about Middle or Eastern TN teams, but I respect them anyway. I assume if they're good enough to be among the last 16 (substate) or 8 teams left standing they must be pretty good, and I like the chances of ANY of the West TN teams to represent well in the tourney.

West vs. Middle vs. East.... we can debate all day, but I suppose the tourney itself will give us some answers eventually.

Hey rowdy.....5 out of those 6 are in AAA (you left out the only "real" program in Millington in 2008)...2 teams from Memfis make it to the state tourney from AAA every year, and only 4 teams out of those 20 were able to win 2 games....and that is the best that ya'll can do?

Bring home the gold like Hillcrest did, and then talk...

Yes, 13AA talks alot, and has only 2 gold balls with probably 5-7 silver balls in the last 30 years...maybe a little too much talk, but right now they are on top!!!

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
