Wonder if Couey will apply at the new Central High School. That might be a good fit for him. Or has that already been filled and I missed it.

I have inquiredon numerous occasions about whether or not it has been filled and everybody I talk to says they dont know. The Lavergne Middle positions are officially open now......

I've gotten the same response too about Central High. I heard Hooper might apply at Lavergne Middle since his current principal is going there.

  • 1 month later...

so after two days at camp here is my synopsis of Rutherford County basketball

Middle School:

This middle school season is going to be very intense, I have not seen a bad team Rock Springs is poised to make a run towards another sectional title. Siegel will stand in their way stewarts creek is small but very scrappy smyrna is much improved Lavergne probably has the best player in the league oakland and Buchanan are going to cause people problems withtheir athleticism, blackman is young but scrappy, Rockvale is deep, and Christiana is scrappy as well,

My prediction:

North Division 1) R. Springs 2) S. Creek 3) Lavergne 4) SMyrna 5) Blackman

South Division 1) Siegel 2) Oakland 3) Rockvale 4) Buchanan 5) Christiana

High School

Siegel is HUGE Cedrick Willilams and Stephen Hurt have both improved they are still the team to beat. Blackman has improved tremendously. I havent seen anybody else but I have heard that Riverdale has improved as well unfortunately I havent seen anyone else play

My prediction:

7AAA 1) Siegel 2) Oakland (just because of tradition) 3) Lavergne 4) Blackman 5) Riverdale 6)Smyrna

I don't see how Buchanan could beat anybody. They haven't won a game out there in years and now they're playing against much more talented teams and bigger schools. I know they have SOME new kids but the majority of they're players will still come from the elementary school, right? just seems like they wouldn't be that good. Siegel and Oakland should be the teams to watch. I've also heard Rock Springs could run away with the north division.

    • Yeah I am on board and plan on coming down from the Ridge for some home games, great Friday night atmosphere there.  I'm really hoping SC can get them back going and have some success for those fans and community.
    • Yep I was field level on the scoreboard end throwing ball with Benny when we had that brief lead. Everybody got very excited but it was short lived as Murvil regrouped and went into machine mode. But yeah,  that hit sounded like the crack of a black powder rifle being fire.  I believe Dozier took one like that as a Soph up at Greeneville after on olay block.
    • Ole Benny boy lol. I forgot about Harder. He was tough as crap. He graduated in ‘09. I went to the OR/Maryville game that year (great game, btw) and he collided with Jacob West (I think was his name) and you could hear it clearly at the top of the visitor bleachers. Man, it was a stick. He could lay some wood son. All those guys were tough, Elliott included.
    • They do have good community support for sure and did when I coached under Z for 4 years. (I was on that staff that turned them around a little from winning 1 game a year to actually being competitive).  Great Kids and Great Community over there.  They have done some good things with the facilities from when i coached too.
    • I personally will not mind that one bit.  It seems like a really strange fit to me from the git go.
