State Tournament Draw Idea

Here is an idea....when coaches win the regional semi final round, they receive a packet. Why not add a sheet of paper to that packet that must be turned in at the substate game with your lineups. This sheet of paper would list numbers 1-15 (you cannot vote for your team), there are 16 substate teams in each classification. Each coach do a poll of the remaining teams in the tournament....take the results from the 16 coaches poll and seed the 8 substate winners from the results of these polls. IF 2 teams from the same region got placed on the same side of the bracket, then switch them with the nearest vote getter, in order to get them in opposite brackets.

 

The coaches know best, and with 16 coaches involved, it would be difficult to collude and fix a draw...just my 2 cents, and it would not be all that difficult!

Your right, coaches do or at least should know best. But I feel like the blind draw is the best option. Any way its done, it will never 100% completely satisfy everyone.

so how is this fair? how can coach from say Chattanooga fairly rank teams from memphis if he has never seen them play. If this must be done then T$$AA should just pay CoachT and use his strength + success rankings as part of the formula to seed teams...... or we can just shut up about it and enjoy the tournament as is.

The exception for the blind draw is when two teams from the same Reg. qualifies, they are placed in seperate sides of the bracket. Two examples are; Polk Co. and McMinn Cent./Westview and Gibson Co.

The draw was a blind draw with those exceptions. Each coach got to pick a ball with a number on it that they selected and even placed it in the tumbler that was simlar to a bingo tumbler. There was a young boy who turned the tumbler until one ball fell. That number was called and matched to the team who had selected the number. That team was the top of the bracket. The next ball was tumbled out and that number was the bottom of the first bracket....all the way to the last ball. The coverage was on the Internet.
