Hello all from The Big Blue Country. It's time I spoke up, and this goes for all teams, parents!

Let the kids play without anguish, let the coaches coach, yes I've been there, it's not my first.

Don't tell your DD how good she is or how much better you are than the ones playing. It only causes alot of confusion to the kid. Some parents are living there dream through there child, stop it, its your child paying your dues. All I ask is in Unicoi and else where, Im sure were not the only ones with problems, JUST LET THE KIDS PLAY AND THE COACH, COACH! We really have a Great Team if everyone else would just build in your child and others and not put others down.

So your saying that if your daughter is not playing then clearly shes not good enough and should be told that she stinks and should feel lucky to sit in the same dugout as the great ones that are playing

9/10 times I'd say the player in front of her is better, or at the very least is a better practice player/has a better attitude. When things are relatively equal between an older player, especially a senior, and a younger player, I don't oppose giving the older player time out of loyalty. She has to maintain that playing time, through each practice and game, and has to be willing to sit every now and then. Next year will always come around before you know it and players stepping in need experience beyond often unorganized, time-shortened jv games.

The end of your post is just overboard. I doubt anyone is claiming yours is terrible.

I'd think most teams would be proud of winning the state title and being a contender again, and let the drama just fade away.

Scooby,

If you get this one figured out, please, holler at our politicians (federal, state and local)...so you can help them with government waste...and health care problem(s)...and the war on terror...and the financial crisis...and unemployment...and Toyota...and...and...

:D

I hear ya, these are exactly the answers I expected. As far as casting stones, a lil dramatic I'd say, this is ball not the bible, also I'm just trying to help some folks that like I said "I have been there" not get frustraighted and quit what could work out to be a good thing for a kid. Plus if your setting the bench, ask the Coach what it is that he/she believes you need to work on in order to be a starter, and some will never get a chance at some schools simply because all they play or try to play is school ball, :thumb:

Yes sir you are right this crap happens everywhere! Here in Ohio as well. Parents need to support all the kids playing! Period! At the end of the day it really is about the kids! Support your coaches as well. Coaching any sport is very time consuming and demanding. I myself may not like what a coach does but if we all take a moment and think if it was yourself in the coaches shoes, others may not like our decisions! Not always as easy as we as parents think things are! I always support the kids playing! It is so important to be supportive for all children! I always try to make it a point after games to make positive comments to the kids win or lose! That is not always easy and is more constructive! My humble opinion for what its worth!

It,s hard to get behind a team that game in and game out the juniors and seniors show no unity, play lackluster, and drop the F bomb and down grade the freshmen on the team. It,s also hard to figure out how the jv can beat a team that is composed of 50% varsity and then the varsity lose to the same team the next game badly. Im not a sore loser, but i cant stand losing without leaving everything on the field. You give 100% and lose and everything is ok! You lose after giving no effort and showing bad attitudes, well , that's pathetic!

You are to be applauded, but rose-colored glasses and singin' 'Hakuna mata' never changes the facts. I support all players...till I find out who the criers and whiners are. Then, I just try not to say anything to 'em. And, believe it or not, there are terrible coaches in all sports. You've probably even seen a few yourself, I'd bet.

My 'humble' 2¢.

Good post!...and been there. Talkin' tough never won a game for any team my daughter (or sons) ever played on. In fact, they usually ended up with a big 'L' on their foreheads when there was more talk than hustle (reminds me of that T-shirt I see every summer on the 'circuit:' Hustle beats talent every time talent doesn't hustle...or something like that).

There are alot of parents that do wear rose colored glasses which can also ruin all sports! Yes I have seen coaches that are not worth a You know what! Some shouldn't even coach period! I normally don't sing that song but I will say nothing to the ones I know who are criers and whiners! At some point that always takes care of itself! Always do say things to the ones who give maximum effort and are out there busting their butts!

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
