I'll admit I haven't seen all the teams play but here are my top 10 teams in East Tennessee heading into the post season:

1. Maryville

2. Unicoi County

3. Morristown East

4. Jefferson County

5. Elizabethton

6. Daniel Boone

7. William Blount

8. Karns

9. Dobyns-Bennett

10. Powell

I'm guessing you meant Upper East Tennessee Top 10?

All good teams, but William Blount beat Maryville twice. Farragut beat Maryville the other day by 8 or 9 runs. (I know that Maryville is still a very good team and anybody can have a bad game, but I question your having Maryville as your number 1 team.) I also believe that Farragut should be included. They are a very dangerous team. William Blount has done much better than I ever thought they could this year with a new coach and no seniors. This really could be the year of the Lady Govs.

I thought about Gibbs, Science Hill, Farragut, Knox Central, among others but I only had room for 10 teams in my top 10. I picked Maryville and Unicoi at the top because it always seems like they are ready to play their best ball at the end of the season. I would love to see everyone elses top 10, I'm sure many people know the teams better than me, I was just trying to get a cool topic started for us East Tennessee softballers here at post season time. Look forward to seeing who y'all think are the best in the east.

I agree, they are all good quality teams, but Maryville won't be on top of this list. They are good this year but not where everyone is used to seeing them. They finished 3rd in district behind William Blount and Farragut. William Blount seems to be the leader of this pack and will keep this run going into next year with no seniors on the roster. I look to see William Blount going far into post season if they can keep there 3 junior stars healthy. Tuck is one of the best pitchers in the state and with Campbell behind the plate and Smith at Short Stop they are tough. Good luck to the Lady Govs..

An apparently "official" map shows the western most counties of East TN to be Marion, Hamilton, Bledsoe, Cumberland, Morgan and Scott. Who would be in your top 10?

All teams listed above are quality choices. With Hamilton County being in East Tennessee, I find it hard to believe that Soddy Daisy is not at the top of list. I would also include Walker Valley and Meigs County. I've seen Maryville, Elizabethton and many of the others play and none have the horses to play with Soddy (and I'm not even a big fan of Soddy). Just my observations.

Until looking it up I didn't realize East TN stretched that far myself. Haven't seen Soddy in a couple years, but I've seen most of the teams listed here and I've seen some of the teams from other areas that Soddy has dominated.

From the teams mentioned here in ET top 10's, they gave good solid spankings to William Blount, Powell, Farragut and Walker Valley. I would pretty much have to agree with the assessment of 3rdbasecoach.

My rankings go from the Knoxville area east. I don't get the pleasure to see teams from the Chattanooga area much and I really don't hear about them too much. I know Soddy is a powerhouse and other good teams come that area I just don't know them much.

No problem with your assessment. I, too, see only teams from mainly the eastern portion of the state. Had the pleasure of watching my beloved high school get spanked this weekend by some middle and west Tennessee teams. Coffee County looked mighty strong. Creekwood and Cornersville will be tough to deal with come state tournament time. Cornersville pitcher (Feagan, I believe) looked dominating. I would like to know who is teaching hitting at Coffee County, they deserve a pay raise.

Don't forget that Marion County did finish second in the Eastman Invitational where better than half the teams listed in the OP's top ten also played... And Unicoi won it...

    • Actually that young kid was in an offense that loved to throw the ball I believe.    Biggest problem for MC is if the coaching staff can figure out which mouths to feed at the appropriate time.
    • Have you ever been in education (administration) or a head coach? You’re responsible for all aspects of your program. If you were not checking the kids information correctly and left it up to someone else and they mess up. You’re held liable because it’s a failure on supervision, implementation of TSSAA eligibility and your school’s eligibility. Remember the wording in the article for him “CONTRACT NOT RENEWED” coaches are on a year to year contract and don’t sign the contract again until July. Do I believe he still should’ve been let go? Yes because you’re responsible for the total program and should be aware of everything going on. Do I believe he knew about the grade changes? No and that’s because nobody brought his name up until things got really bad and there is no indication with any paperwork showing he did. It’s just word of mouth from a teacher trying to cover herself.
    • TSSAA won't ever issue a death penalty, worst case scenario would be a post-season penalty that makes Clinton ineligible for the playoffs for a year or two (I believe 3 years is the most I have ever seen).  But TSSAA only does that in extremely rare circumstances.
    • I just want to echo that sentiment. Coach Woodmore is a good man and he is going to do things the right way and expect these kids to do things the right way. He will help grow them into fine young men. The wins will follow. I think Bolivar hit a home run.
