What were the scores?

Coffee County 13 Marshall County 0

It took Coffee County only 4 plays to march 70 yards for the contests opening touchdown. Four straight runs shredded the Marshall County defense that looked rocky to say the least. Marshall County went 3 and out on the next series giving the ball back to Coffee County who drove down the field and scored again. Marshall County's defense seemed to finally settle down only after Coffee County made massive subsitutions. Marshall County's freshman running back did look impressive, but you can tell that it looks like it could be another long year for the Tigers.

Tonight there will be a Jamboree at Marshall Co. High School, with the first game I believe matching up Riverside Christian against Cornersville, then Lincoln Co. taking on defending state champ Giles Co. and the jamboree winds up with Marshall Co. taking on Coffee Co.. Believe the starting time is around 6

Giles County is loaded...a lot of small Colleges would like to have that many Athletes. They made Lincoln County look slow, and I think LC has a pretty good team. Coffee County looked good, but Marshall County is obviously down this year. This was like a first scrimmage for RC as they don't have enough players to scrimmage themselves, so it's hard to say how good Cornersville was. A lot of Giles Srs. weren't even in pads.

Pretty much as expected, we had about 5 starters on the sidelines in street clothes, ran a very vanilla offense, and defense, and pulled all the starters after the first quarter, then cleaned out the bench the rest of the way, which G.C. didn't, just as expected, like they do every year. But that's fine, I think this scrimmage means a lot more to them than it does to us, and it's pretty obivious, since the majority of the coaching staff are former Falcon football players and or a retired head coach(John Meadows) that helps a little. Our first offense only got 2 series, one of which ended in a fumble fairly deep in G.C. territory. We use this as a chance for some of the younger kids to get the opportunity to play before a big crowd, and they have practiced in the heat, and deserve the chance to see some action in a "game", one that means absolutely nothing, but a game non the less. G.C.'s starting Q.B. never came out of the scrimmage until the very end, which is the usual practice every year. L.C. scrimmaged G.C. two weeks ago at home and beat them 35-7, mostly one's on one's, but we did not play very well Friday night, what little playing time that the starters had anyway. G.C. has a good football team, and will go deep in the playoffs, but from what I have seen of them (3 times since the spring) they are not at the level they were last year, but they lost a very good qb. and several other good players so that is to be expected. Good Luck to every team in the "jamboree" this year.

Dang. LC not having the O'Connor boys is starting to sting a little huh? Over here in Giles County we refer to John Meadows as Coach Meadows, the legend from Lincoln County. You should show the same respect instead of referring to him as just a retired coach from LC.

First & foremost being from LC you should know OC's teams always come to play. For a team with 19 new starters on offense & defense this little old scrimmage was very important to GC. In case you haven't noticed the season starts next week. LC was missing some starters. GC ran a "very vanilla" offense by OC's standards right down your throat. The JV played the 2nd period. The QB is a sophomore having never played in a regular season game and you want OC to rest him for next week?

The mark of a good team is having the ability to become a better football team each week. 3 weeks ago LC whipped our butts. 2 weeks ago we beat FC 7 to 6. 1 week ago Tullahoma spanked us. Friday night GC put a few pieces of the puzzle together. I like our directional heading. As good as last year. Not by a long shot but check back with us in about 4 weeks. :thumb:

well put WOMG, the team is very inexperienced and has many things to work on and thats what this game was for. SO to complain about us not pulling our starters, 18 of whom havent started a varrsity game, doesnt seem to make a lot of sense. besides our jv scored twice anyways and also didnt allow a score at all
