heard it was the truth

I've got to disagree with you that oakdale and wartburg will be the top two.

Wartburg lost 90% of it's scoring from last season. Oakdale returns everyone.

This is Oakdale's year. My predictions this early may not mean much but I'll offer them and may change them once scrimmages get here.

Early predictions

1. Oakdale

2. Oneida

3. Oliver Springs - best coach in the district and will be fine regardless

4. Coalfield

5. Sunbright

6. Wartburg

7. Jellico

My reason for putting wartburg this low is the fact that they have no starters returning lowe has a torn ACL and one of their better soph. had serious ankle surgery, but I do believe they could be one of the best teams heading in to 2011-2012 once they get time to heal. Coalfield still has Jordan so they could be tough again as well.

I think OS will be fine even though Raby would of help made it easier.

My prediction

1 2 3 toss up between OS, Oakdale, Oneida (just matters who shows up that night.)

4 Coalfield (still has Jordan & Hamby)

5 Sunbright

6 Wartburg (lost everyone)

7 Jellico

I would have to agree with the toss up but its really anyone's title to win, good players graduate and others step in to take their places, maybe not right away but it happens, part of the game. I think Wartburg, OS, Oakdale, Oneida and coalfield all have the ability to win it. However, the other district will be a little stronger than it was last couple of years. Christopher is a good coach, So is Snow, and J. Davis and C. Hines. Breazeale will have more firepower this yr at Rockwood as well. Should be an exciting yr in the region.

I just don't think you can put teams like wartburg and oliver springs in a box like that. I've watched ball an awful lot and I've seen it time and time again. I read on another post that wartburg has graduated 15 players in the past 3 seasons, but still have been in the sub-state each of the past 3 seasons. Oliver springs has graduated at least 10 players over that time but still manage to win the district each year.

I believe that this year 1,2,3,and possibly 4 are all a toss up. I look for wartburg and os to make it back to the region along with oakdale and coalfield.

Coalfield lost a ton of great players

OS lost some key parts

Oneida and Oakdale return intact

Wartburg lost several players but should be deeper than most.

Yes I agree, it aint about how hard you hit but about how hard you can get hit and keep gettin up, thats how winning is done- Rocky Balboa. I agree with the 4 back in the region.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
