They say ignorance is bliss, but I can't help but wonder. I've been reading for the past couple days. Northeast Tennessee fans define the word fanatic. I do not imply that as a bad term. It's refreshing to see you are passionate about your kids and football. I enjoy the amount of effort each of these teams put into every friday night, and occasionally thursday. So this may be the wrong place to ask, but can someone give me a little background into the history of the Big 8. From what I gather this hasn't always been the alignment?

It was just started last year, but puts a few of the teams together that used to play in the same conference years ago {the big 5,6,7,9,}DB,SH,TH were early members and others came later and went to other conferences.Local teams from Morristown,Greeneville,Elizabethton, and Erwin were in it.That's why you still see the big 8 playing against some of it's old rivals.

All smiles on these picks Art...don't know which I am enjoying more...the playful jabs at Central and Tn. Hi,or you picking South to win (is that really to hex us?) or the surprise pick of the week: MoWest. I am kinda feeling that Trojan vibe too... not sure the Toppers are clicking yet.

good answer Batman....just to add...the TSSAA reclassification brought Tn. Hi back into conference play with Science Hill and Dobyns-Bennett, the conerstones of the original Big7 that grew and shrank and evolved over the years with different teams coming and going, but the three biggies of the tri-cities remaining constant. We were reclassified last year with D-B and SH from the Big East, Tn. Hi ,South and Central from the Mountain Lakes, and Volunteer, Boone and Crockett ? joining from the InterMountainAthletic conference IMAC.

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
