I think his best coached game was the Halls Maryville at Maryville. We actually scared the beejeebees out of some of the Rebs parents I know. 30-22 I think it ended up. Most teams don't play toe to toe at their place. When you have balance you will make the playoffs.

That was a GREAT game. But I think the score was 38-30. Turner got hurt and Dowdy played in the 2nd half if I'm not mistaken. Wesley Kitts and Dayton were nearly unstoppable. Burnette did a great job for Maryville getting away from consistently good pressure and delivering some critical strikes for them.

Maybe you are confusing a bad attitude with a desire to win attitude. My son played a couple of years with Chad Blakley on Tim Bright's team. Tim was an exceptional head coach and had one or two very knowledgeable and motivating assistant coaches. My son had a great time and learned a lot about football during his time playing for Tim and his staff. Chad went to Anderson Co. where the coaches and players were glad to have him on the team. Let's look at Chad's stats and see if you'll agree. 935 total yards; yards per carry 7.3; total tackles 47; touchdowns 10. So while we're at it let's look at two other kids that could have improved last years 4-6 season, but choose to play for other schools as well. Davy Templeton (Rockwood) total yards 951; yards per carry 8.9; tackles 52. Chris Campbell (Grace Christian Academy) total yards 1,218; yards per carry 8.8; tackles 51; touchdowns 22. So let's just add the total yardage, that's 3,104 for these three players. Do you think this might have helped your 4-6 season? Please respond.

Blakely would have helped but Campbell and Templeton not so much. Anyone can have those stats in that lower classification. There's a reason why they left and that reason would be they were not good enough to start at Halls.

Yep your absolutely right Diver my mistake. Some great games that year the West game comes to mind as a great comeback and so was the Cleveland game in the playoffs. Wonder how Kitts Dayton & Dowdy are getting along in the college ranks? Dowdy's years was cut way to short for me due to playing behind Turner then the SUV wreck.

There again Burnette a Halls kid comes up. Minus Burnette for Maryville that night that game may have been ours. Funny how things develop over time. My guess if that season was time warped into the seventies and eighties all our homegrown players would have been available and deeper run into the playoffs could have been possible. But we will never know for sure.

Just sayin...how do we know waht KJ will do, the principle may choose to remove him as coach, KJ may choose to go to Cathloic after they get rid of there coach, he maight just choose to stay at Halls and not coach, we really dont know what is going to happen now do we?

Again, I have it from a VERY reliable source that Coach Julian is staying at Halls and will remain the Head Football Coach.

Rather than continue to debate this fact, perhaps it's time for Red Devil fans to simply offer their support.

Go Red Devils!

The main debate now is were do we go from here?

I think and I hope I am proven 100% wrong. Next year will not be whirlwind turnaround either. Heck this district is tough as nails and most programs aren't losing a whole lot of talent. We may be similar to UT the youth will have to step up big time. I just didn't see much speed from this group on either side of the ball. How are the freshamn stacking up and can they provide needed support?

Oak Ridge, Powell, Hardin Valley, and Central will all be pretty talented next year. Anderson County has to replace Williams, but they should still be pretty good. Clinton will also be better. I don't know very much about the personnel that Karns and Campbell County will return, but I just don't see Halls being better than these other 6, from a talent perspective.

Agreed.

When Campbell County & Karns defeated us I saw a disturbing situation brewing for the next year. The scariest part is we look pretty small and slow. We normally take our better players and they have to do multiple tasks so they are more open for injury.

I don't think anyone will envy KJ's job next year. We will have to be patient and hope the ball bounces our way to get results.

These teams are lucky to be in this district, just look at the alternative: Maryville, Farragut, Bearden, Catholic, Knox West, William Blount, Heritage. Our region is weak compared to that, but I'll take it anyday. Halls should be competitive with Karns, Campbell County, and Central, and schedule two non region games they can win. 5-5 seems possible for next year.
