POWELL @ HARDIN VALLEY

Powell had a slight letdown against Karns last week, but their defense picked up the slack with 2 picks for TDs, a blocked punt, and just solid D all night long not allowing Karns to score against their first string. I don't think Powell can get by with a letdown game against H.V. They are also undefeated in the district and don't want to let go of the top spot.

What does everyone think? :popcorneater:

Hardin Valley is alot better than last year obviously. I believe HV's defense is the best we have seen all year other than Dobyns-Bennett. Eskridge is stronger and faster than last year and Powell has to shut him down to have a better shot at beating HV.

This could end up being a very good game. I believe Powell will end up winning this game, but i dont think it will be easy.

Powell 24 Hardin Valley 14

The Hawks are the best team remaining on Powells schedule IMO. They are improving and have a rec league feeder program started. In a few more years they could be a team to be concerned about. But presently I don't think they are good enough to snatch the victory away from the Panthers so long as Powell plays a solid game. If Powell gets sloppy with penalties, turnovers, etc... then this could end up being a contest. The first half of the Panthers schedule was top heavy with big games, the second half is filled with teams that on paper should be easier victories for Powell. The challenge is to keep 15-18 yr old young men focused on each game and not start daydreaming about the playoffs.

I been keeping eye on this HVA program. Kinda easy when your kids attend the school. Coach Jones and his staff is doing a great job with what they are working with. I feel like in 4 to 6 more years this porgram will be the bench-mark of Knox County football. HVA is starting to get into the meat of their schedule, so we wee see how for real they are. Powell is just a juggernaut right now. I love the attitude this team plays with also. IMO...Powell 35+ HVA 21..

The powell high school football team has played very well this season! It has won big games against the so called best teams in the district. And quite handily I might add. In fact it has played numerous JV players on both sides of the ball in 4 of the 6 games. Powell should win this game going away if Mobley plays. If he doesn't, they still win but not by such a large margin. From what I understand Eskridge had to be carried off the field late in the game against Central. If he doesn't play against powell, it won't matter if mobley plays, a blow out will be in order. This could be another game that the JV guys get in, in the third quarter.

HV hasn't played anybody (West...& they lost 14-21). HV will rely big on their RB to get the job done. Powell has a 1..2..punch in the backfield on offense that is very good. HV's O-line is not that good....Powell's D-line should dominate. Panthers have hawk gumbo....HV-14 Powell-38

Is Mobley 100%. I heard he was favoring his ankle last week.

I'm still curious about that as well. Supposedly he was available in the 2nd half against AC and against Karns, but Lowe chose to keep him out. We'll have to see if HTV has any additional info.

He is fine. Would have played on Friday had need be, but he needed to give it a bit more time to get back to 100% worse than he needed to play, if that makes sense. He was moving ok during warmups Friday, but the decision was made not to use him unless they had to. It turned out to be the correct decision.

I talked to Dy'shawn yesterday. He is ready to get back on the field this week.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
