the reason I ask i that I am a bit confused as to why a team that gets beat by a lower ranked team is still ranked higher than that team.

Consider looking at how Henry Co., Dickson, and Northeast are ranked (AAA).

Northeast has beaten Dickson

Dickson has beaten Henry County

 

Northeast will play out at Henry Co. on Thursday 10/7, as Dickson and Rossview play 10/5. These two games will determine the postseaason for Dist.10AAA

 

Some of these teams are more solid than given credit...I honestly feel that this year, Dist. 9 will get a handfull in region play.
