Yep. Maplewood looks like Red Bank's Greeneville

I have been watching it hard all year and I would say you are right about Maplewood they look to the second best team in 4a but Greene won't have to worry about them til state. This half of the state seems to be a little down but you can't overlook anyone once you get a couple rounds in the playoffs. Whites Creek didn't have the best record last year when they came to Greeneville in the forth round but they had a lot of talent and played Greeneville very tough. Someone will step up in the playoffs and be tough its just hard to tell who it will be yet I think the top team out of the Chattanooga will be decent and we should see them second or third round it won't be Red Bank this year though. Gibbs has a good record but they haven't played anyone and lost to an avg Fulton team. I hate to get ahead of ourselves but it does look a good road to back to state again. Good luck and go Big Green

After Friday night, Greeneville is going to get one of two things in the rest of their conference games. They are either going to get their opponents A game or their opponent will tuck their tails and hide. I'm not sure which path Cumberland Gap will take. Either way, this game shouldn't be close. Devils big, again.

Greeneville will get CG's A game, however, that's still not going to be much. CG just isn't very good this year. They play hard and are somewhat competitive, but facts are facts and they just aren't very good this year. The effort is there, but it's just not enough. Their jimmy's and joe's just aren't what they need to be. They do have a pretty good young group of kids, and they are gaining valuable playing time so hopefully in time they will get where they need to be, but it just ain't there right now. As for this friday, I would say that G'ville could name the score. All I'm hoping for is that everyone comes out of it healthy and that CG competes and doesn't give up. If they do that, then I can walk out of there feeling ok.

G'ville - 52

CG - 14

Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

Rex Dockery..former Morristown coach and Memphis State coach who died in a palne crash in the '70's...once said that one of the tools a coach can use to motivate players to go hard in preparation for a lesser opponent...is to push for individual or group personal bests. Challenge your O-Line to a game where everyone grades 90% or better. Challenge receivers to not drop a single ball. Challenge backs to more yards than before and no fumbles. Set a defensive goal of fewest yards given up so far this year. Challenge individual players to a personal record in number of tackles. It's tough to get a team up to 'post-season form' when everyone tells them that this team or that team doesn't require any extra effort to defeat. Go Devils..put together a perfect game; eliminate mistakes; and start polishing up for post season.

Yea, but when ya gotta do it every game you run out of challenges.

I think the goal is to hang half a hundred on the rest of the conference with the starting o for only 2 1/2 quarters

I think you quit saying things like this because they hear it enough as it is...I think you play a strict 2 platoon system so young players will see action and gain experience while the game is still heated and before it's out of reach...I think you do intentional rotations at certain positions so you'll always have a player ready if a starter goes down....I think you mix substitution groups so a young QB and RB get in there with the first O-line instead of the 3rd. Or Young linebackers behind the first D-line. Or young D-lineman while Older guys like #15 and #27 are in at LB to push them. There are a lot of ways to prepare for tougher opponents down the road while playing weaker ones. And I'm pretty confident that the GHS staff has thought through these things.

That is how you stay strong year in year out, and a luxury that many conference foes that dress 30-35 including freshmen aren't able to do.
