What up with Crockett County?

Dyersburg Trojans went and got up on Crockett County by 3 scores with 9 minutes left in 4th quarter. What is the deal with Crockett Counties defense. They really must not be a top 4 A team if they give up that many points and loose to a 1-4 Dyersburg team and also almost loose to Jackson Christian who should have won that game they had 5 turnovers. Any Thoughts on the game?

They can score with anybody, but their defense is suspect, still a good team.

I have seen Crockett County play 3 times this season (Obion Central, Dyer County, and Dyersburg. They have been clearly overrated and are not a top 20 team, to say nothing of having been ranked #2. They managed to slip though in several closes games, due to a great FB and great coaching. The defense against the run was always crippled, and there were no defensive backs or ends. Dyersburg came in with a very glood offensive game plan: run wide and throw deeply. Dyersburg had over 400 yards of offense and led 35 to 13 after 3 quarters. The 4th quarter was butt ugly football: Dyersburg didn't know how to win and went crazy, the officials knew the home team was undefeated and tried not to have the first loss on their watch. The result is that Dyersburg incurred 95 yards in penalties IN THE 4TH QUARTER ALONE, including 2 roughing the kicker, 1 roughing the passer, 2 unsportsmanlike conduct (with an ejection), 2 pass interference calls, 1 defensive offsides and 1 false start. Dyersburg could not stok Crockett County and all the penalties and with a minute to play, the Cavaliers had tied the game at 35 to 35. The Dyersburg quarterback Alford connected with wide receiver Warren for a 55 yard pass deep into Crockett County territory. Alford scored on a QB keep with 37 seconds left, making the final score 42 to 35.

Crockett County is a legitimate .500 team in a competitive 3A region.

Ahhhhh.....the smell of a cupcake schedule..................

Couldn't agree more! Cupcake City! The only teams they have beaten that are playoff bound "looks like" Dyer County and Haywood County..only because there's no one else to send...these two aren't very good either! JCS will also make it in the JV playoff bracket! But..in Crockett County's defense..it is the district they play in..you play who you play..that's all you can do! What a terrible loss tho for the Cavs..Dyersburg is a disaster!

A disaster....Seems to me, they not only beat the Cavs but they beat the officials as well. The officials who tried real hard to keep the Cavs undefeated!! I will take nothing away from #5 on the Cavs team. He is a great football player. The Cavs played a great game. And, our kids made their fair share of mistakes. But, those officials, one in particular, needs to go back to Ref school! Good Job to my Trojans!! Keep is up!! Be proud of your win, play with the same heart and learn from your mistakes!! GO TROJANS!!

    • When she starts farting around with the football team the powers in Maryville will run her out of town on a rail and everyone connected with letting her in the door. You saw what happened when Alcoa's radio announcer thought he was coming to Maryville, the people rose up and stopped it.
    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
