SECOND Clarification, the Tullahoma band has what is the equilivent to their state championship tomorrow at MacGavock High School. The band has to leave at 6am, Saturday morning. The "pep band" that was sent to this game were freshman and alumni. The band members' contracts ended last week for the marching season and attendence for the Columbia game was voluntary. Tullahoma generally averages the highest percentage of Mid-state/All-State band members of any school in the state of Tennessee. It is very important for these students to attend this event to be able to get their scholarship opportunites. The band did the very best they could given the situation. The band loves supporting the football team (as it is the ONLY sport they support)but there were hard decisions that had to be made.

This disappoints me. Its not really that hard of a decision. Your the band, you show up to football games, no matter what happens the next day. If you really love supporting them, you show up, especially the biggest game of the year. Maybe its time to write "contracts" that actually cover the entire football season, since it is who they love to support.

I was disappointed the THS Wildcat Band wasn't at the game tonite also. They do a great job and I don't remember exactly why they weren't there. I'm sure they had prior committment for a competition or something and maybe didn't expect the Cats to be playing in the 3rd round when they scheduled this whatever. THS did postpone their bkb games and maybe the band could have done the same. I wonder what it would be like to go to a UT or Alabama football game and the band wasn't there. It just didn't seem right to me, but I'm a little prejudiced. The band booster club has a nice concession stand at Wilkins Stadium and made money off the football program and I just think the football team deserved a little more from the band. Thats just my opinion and I know everyone has one. I hope the band does well at the state competition.

Columbia played well and was the better team tonite. We might, in hindsight, done some things differently, but Columbia will represent District 8AAA well in the 4th round and I hope they can go on and win a state title, after coming so close last season. I was impressed with the Lion defense and the sophomore QB for the Lions, but I wouldn't trade him for Jared Davis. It was a great season that exceeded expectations and I'm proud of this team for winning the District 8AAA championship and a good play-off run. Tullahoma is losing a great bunch of seniors, but has several returning players who can make Tullahoma a team to be reckoned with next season. I hate to see the season end and I'm gonna miss Wildcat football on Friday nights.

Congratulations to Columbia on a well-deserved victory over Tullahoma tonight. The folks at the stadium and in the press box are always very nice and treat us great with food and a nice environment.

Columbia earned the win on the field in every way. Their defense was magnificent, keeping the 'Cats off balance. Tullahoma's only success came late when it went to the spread offense and Columbia relaxed its defense a little.

The Wildcat defense could just not stop the powerful, brutal, punishing running attack of Tra'Darius Goff, Chris Martin, and the sophomore QB Markham, who is a wonderful player.

The Wildcats had a great season, one of the best in school history, and the senior class provided tremendous leadership.

Like Columbia, Tullahoma has most of its skill position players back and don't be surprised if these two teams battle for the District 8-AAA crown in 2011. Go Lions and win the state for our district!

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
