CAK @ Alcoa

Since Alcoa and Cak are the 2 best teams in the state and have played pretty much the toughest teams in the state, who do you guys think would be left in this round had the TSSAA split up quad 2 and put CAK, Alcoa, Louden, Polk, Tyner, Howard in different quads.

Not sure how it would have played out, but I would say any of those teams would have taken Quatd 1.

How good will CAK be next year?

 

That is always a hard question with any team. CAK loses somewhere around 20 seniors, which is about 1/3 of our team! Many of those guys have been contributing since they were juniors, and some since they were sophomores. But it appears that offensively the Warriors could be pretty good again, but developing offensive lineman will be a priority. Defensively there are a lot of holes to fill. CAK will be somewhat of a project but with some tweaking I believe they can be pretty good. They will need to be because they have upgraded their schedule significantly.

Alcoa, CAK, Milan, Camden, Goodpasture, Polk, Loudon, Tyner....as for 9 and 10 I really cant comment. People are putting Howard in the top 10 but I wasnt impressed with anything they did when I saw them.

BTW, the police escort for #16 of Alcoa was initiated by me. I was standing outside the Alcoa locker room and overheard 6 CAK male high school fans talking behind me about getting even with #16 over a 'cheap shot' and they were going to make him pay. If you wonder how I knew they were CAK fans - a couple of them had bodies painted blue and the others wore the CAK school colors.

 

I found a police officer who sent them on their way and then went down to the field to escort # 16 off the field. That is the end of that story.

 

To CAK players, you played a great game and should be proud of all you have accomplished. Thank you for giving us a great high school game and several years of wonderful, competitive high school football.

Anderson Co, 6A team from Nashville(sorry, can't recall which), Lexington Christian in KY(won state last year-not sure about this year), ---those are ones I'm aware of.

I spoke to Coach Rankin after the game, I wanted to congratulate him. We had a VERY nice conversation and all that I'm going to say is Coach Rankin is 100% PURE CLASS!!!!

 

 

Ditto-I didn't talk to Coach R but my son did--same view of him as Jr's Dad.
