CAK looking for game Week 5

Trying to help coach with our 2011 schedule again. Thought it was finally complete after speaking with over 80 different schools. Surprise! Fulton has decommitted and now we are in a bad spot trying to fill our schedule. Week 5 was when we were supose to play the Falcons, so that is the best option. However; week 7 is our open date and we can take week 5 as an open date and play someone on week 7 if that is what works with your schedule. CAK does NOT recruit players! We have app. 417 students. We graduate 19 seniors this year, so the next couple of years could be iffy for the Warriors. Give us a try and improve your pass defense. Seriously, either PM me or call CAK at 865-690-4721 and ask for Coach Rusty Bradley. Thanks for you consideration :thumb:

Try the TSSAA website. Bradley County and Riverdale both available in week 5. Week 7 has a few listed including Anderson County. Thought they were on the schedule in another week, maybe you can switch that around.

Good luck getting any public schools getting to play you."CAK does NOT recruit players!" We have heard that all before. Everybody believes you.

Hey Photoman! What's up with your team backing out?

There will probably be some hogwash about how they don't like privates or how there AD is upset about CAK firing Darden as bb coach a couple years ago. But, Fulton was fine with sending their basketball team over to CAK a week or so ago (CAK won by 19 by the way, but without Fultons best player I must add) and playing CAK at there place in basketball this summer. Fulton also ended the Powell series, said it was getting "too heated" between the 2 schools.

I've always respected Fultons athletic program but this puts a bit of a smudge on it for me. My boys grew up playing against the baby Falcons and we had some great games with them, won about as many as we lost, but always good hard fought games. Disappointed this one is not going to happen. So be it I quess. Now to the task of finding a replacement.

Bradley was a possibility but was told they are now FULL. We'll double check.

Warhorse, hate on Grace, Brentwood Academy (when they played public), etc... but you are way off base with lumping CAK into a group of schools you think recruits players. I know you will never believe it because you don't want to. The rural schools have very little chance of recruiting, but metro publics are recruiting players constantly, I know because thats where I was before moving my kids to CAK. No child left behind laws, bogus educational custodianships, are just 2 previlant ways of legally recruiting. Its sad that the publics feel the way you do. I pay my taxes just like you. A portion of those taxes go to pay your (public)football coaches, pay for your fields, pay for your football equipment, pay for your teachers, etc...yet I use none of those services or amenities. We accept the 1.8 multiplier to compensate for the "no designated school zone" advantage plus pay a hefty tuition to send our kids to a school not run by the government. I know it will get you or me nowhere to debate this, that is certainly beating a dead horse, and neither of us will change our minds. Your comment just caught me in a time of frustration dealing with the same issue over and over again. Sorry for the rant.

Switch Anderson County to Week 7 and sign on to play Maryville in the Week 0 Blount County Bowl Games.

We've already discussed the option of moving AC to week 7 to open up other possibilities, but of course that would have to be with AC's approval and from what I've been told they really don't want to do that. They like having week 7 open. So, we really are in no position to push. We're just thankful the Mavericks are scheduling us.

As far as Maryville goes, I would like to have seen that game this year or last, but next year I'm afraid we would be biting off more than we could chew. But it still would be an interesting game and I'd like to see it. But Goddard brings up a good point, and we already play Alcoa twice a year, are you really thinking we want to play you guys 3 times?

No. Considering the fact an opponent for Maryville has yet to be nailed down, and considering it is going to be near impossible to arrange in-state competition if they win Saturday, it may be the only way this bowl thing is pulled off the first year. Year two would have Webb vs Maryville and an another opponent for Alcoa to be named. Yes, it wil be tough for Alcoa as well, but we have an a little time to get on it and find some out of state competition if necessary. Just trying to help our buddies out a little.

I'm sure these teams have been contacted, but my wish list would be in no particular order:

Elizabethton, Boyd Buc., Milan, Camden, Goodpasture, A-E.

Footballdad is right. Next year is a huge question mark for CAK. We return 2 starters on defense and 4-5 starters on offense. CAK may end up with a good team but A LOT of guys will have to step up to make that happen.

I am really disappointed that Fulton backed out; that was a match up I was looking forward to.

I too would love to get CAK back on the schedule. Have lots of respect for the program at CAK. Always a hard fought game. :thumb:

In my opinion next years CAK will have no problem being just as good if not better than we were this year. Charley High, whether he knows it or not has already set the tempo for next year by throwing for 451 yards and really showing his leadership abillity in the Loudon game. As for loosing 4 seniors off the o line i have full confidence in Old Bradley to put a great line together to protect Charley next year. untill then...:bored:

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
