Programs that refuse to play Football with open dates

We only have 19 games on the schedule plus a tourny this year. I think games with Boyd may be in the future to replace Grace. Unless he tries to play more it doesn't look like BB games will be a problem

You have 19 games this year but you are taking 2 games for Grundy and 1 game for Grace. Replace with 2 games for Boyd next year and you have an 18 game, plus Christmas Tourney, basketball schedule. Is that going to be enough to have the team ready for the District Tournament or the Region Tournament? If Vic is gonna stick to his guns, is he gonna make the basketball team not play Silverdale? I'm sure they don't want any part of the football team either.. If he does, then that is 2 more games from the schedule. Where does it stop? My only issue with this whole situation is the fact that you are taking games/gates away from the other sports just because you are mad that no one will schedule you in football.. I think there are some serious issues here.. Not the least of which is that you are telling the kids and coaches in the other sports that they aren't as important as football. JMHO

If I was coaching at Bledsoe Co. or a school like that I don't blame them for not playing South Pitt. Why play them and get beat 60-0. I'm sorry Vic is doing what these schools are doing. Vic could play CAK, Alcoa, Loudon, or schools like that but he not playing them because he might not win

Thats not true at all...the teams you mentioned have crazy depth...with us...we have a limited number of players and not 80-90 on a roster...Now we could not beat Alcoa but...just making my point is more of a depth issue than wins and losses...we are one of the smallest schools in 1a

I just heard that Grundy is playing Sp next year. Boyd has finally filled their schedule but at a price we have 4 home games and will be traveling some where in Ga.,DCA and Unaka so it's all good. Boyd and SP has been moved to week 8

Not renewing a contract means that a team made a choice to not play again. It happens all the time in high school sports and college sports. South Pitt played Tyner 2 years ago but have not played the last two years. No one is saying that they are avoiding each other. I guess they made a choice to go different directions. It happens and that doesn't mean a school should be criticized for choosing to play different teams. If some team lied or backed out of an agreement that is a separate matter.

 

There you go, Give Old Pirate a reason to justify why Grace should have renewed ther contract. #1. Games are often scheduled BECAUSE....of the gates. #2. Tyner NEVER had a good followering while on the road. #3. South Pittsburg ALWAYS provides a good gate and fans travel well. #4. SP was most likely Tyner's largest gate. #5. Yep you guessed it SP was MOST likely Grace's biggest gate. South Pittsburg will continue to play SM, Jasper, Polk, Boyd and an array of different teams BECAUSE.....of the huge gates that each provide. So don't attempt to wet in OP's boots and say it's merely rain. Go schedule some powder puff team, you bunch of sissy city fellers.

Old Pirate asks....do you have any idea how much it cost to take a team as far as Knoxville? Please let us all know ....what team you support.

This whole thing is about convenience and making some cost saving decisions, if not the TSSAA would not have changed things around a few years back when SP traveled to Greenback, Midway and several other places. The fact that these sissy programs drop one of their best gates is jest ridiculous. Well call it what you choose but OP says it's jest plain yellow.

We have a week 1 and 3 at Brainerd open, any of those teams mentioned in todays paper needs a game, I talked to Coach Jackson today and we are all for it. Boyd would probably be best bet for both programs because it would almost be like a home home for both. I like and have all the respect in the world for all the coaches that were mentioned in todays paper. We need a game and we are not that good right now, although we are working to get better. Lets do it, think it would bring something new to area.
