Oak Ridge-44 McMinn Co.-3

What happened was nearly 500 yards of total offense and a defense that has only allowed 10 points in their past three games. Junior Corey Booker ran for over 200 yards and quarterback Kevin McKeethan threw for over 100 yards as well. McMinn couldn't move the ball and they also had a number of turnovers including one interception returned for a touchdown. Oak Ridge is getting better with every game and appears ready to make another long playoff run.

McMinn County did move the ball around some in the first half, but the OR defense kept them out of the end zone. A late second quarter score by the Cats seemed to really take the wind out of the Cherokee's sails. The second half was all Cats. OR capatilized on a bunch of McMinn mistakes and the line opened up holes you could drive a truck through. By the fourth quarter the Cherokees seemed stunned and just seemed to give up. McMinn has some fine athletes they just ran into a Wildcat team on a mission.

#23's Mom was right in her post last week, they do have a fine kicker and he made the difference in a shut out.

It was McMinn's homecoming and it's really a shame more fans didn't come out to support the Cherokees. The Cats had as many fans in the stands as the Cherokees. I talked to several McMinn parents and they were really upset at the poor fan showing. McMinn County deserves better support than that.
