tnmatfan
According to many of the parents from many of the schools there (including the ones who have traveled to Hawaii and MN for tournaments), the Fandetti is by far the best tournament they have ever attended. Some quotes: "runs the smoothest of any tournament I've ever seen" "awesome facility" "plenty of room and every seat has a great view" (loved the fact that no one was allowed to be in the middle area where all 6 mats meet so they can see every mat without moving around) "blown away by the food offered at the concessions - not your typical tourney or high school food" "no wonder teams line up to try and get into this tournament" "thank you for making us feel so welcome and not like you just want our checkbook at the tournament" "this is the best wrestling competition top to bottom of any tournament we've ever been to" The list goes on............but this is by far the premier tournament in the southeast. Everyone who gets a chance should attend if they ever get a chance. Edited January 16, 2011 by tnmatfan

If your last line is correct, sounds like when you throw in MBA, McCallie, and other remaining D-2 teams, then the D-2 State Tournament is the premier tournament to watch. Very little down time, adjustments made quickly to keep things rolling (such as moving weight classes to a different mat when one is running slower than others), plenty of great seating, quality of competition (including seeing some of the best from neighboring states), good concessions, very very freindly people, etc.

Last year Cleveland attended this tournament. Would be nice to get Bradley and Soddy to attend as well. Add in McCallie and you have the top 7 teams in the state, to go along with a couple (3) of the top teams from NC, and teams from Kentucky and VA, and wow, what a tournament. 2blLeg
Soddy planned to be there this year but had to pull out because of snow rules. That's right, they sure did. And Parkland was missed as well

Maybe, if you like to watch about a 4 team tournament, the go there and watch it.
smwwrest
Maybe, if you like to watch about a 4 team tournament, the go there and watch it. Not sure what is meant by the above...add Soddy and Parkland and that's 7 very strong teams that were scheduled to be at this tournament. As it turned out there were at least 5 very good teams, including Science Hill. That makes it one of the best in TN...with the 7 teams, there are likely just a few TN tournaments that could be arguably as tough....McCallie..maybe Bradley Central? I would guess he was pertaining to D2 state being a four team dominated tourny: Baylor, McCallie, Christian Brothers and Father Ryan.
