9-AAA

Lebanon should be very good returning every player from last year. They added a freshman Chase Slone who should be a very good shortstop for the blue devils. In their sophmore class they have a utilty player Jack McKeon who will be a major D1 prospect in 2 years. They have 6 seniors Jessep Polk, Cain Sloan, Rob Bell, Trevin Potter, Brandon Shelton, and Jack Partlow. Polk is a vol state commit who is a great hitter. Sloan is probably the best of the group who has been clocked from 86-91 and is a very good middle of the lineup hitter. Potter was a very talented pitcher until he faced arm trouble. Shelton,1B, and Bell,C, also show college talent along with a very good defensive outfielder Partlow. They will be very strong defensively and offensively better than last year but their weakness is pitching. If they have junior pitchers step up Lebanon should be a serious contender for 9 AAA along with MJ and Hendersonville. For those of you all that think gallatin will compete are very wrong they are probably the worst in the district.

If you don't mind me asking why would you put Hendersonville as a competitor after losing 80% of their starters and then say Gallatin is the worst in the district after losing just 2 players? Just curious what your basing your info on?

DISAGREE WITH PART OF THAT..MT JULIET WILL BE TEAM TO BEAT FOR SURE. BUT GALLATIN COULD BE VERY GOOD. THE BEST RECENT CLASSES OF SENIORS: 2004, 2006, AND 2007: 07 CLASS SET SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS. THE GREEN WAVE WILL BE MUCH BETTER THIS YEAR. I SEE COLLEGE PROSPECTS IN BURTON, JONES, AND BENDER.

ALSO SEE GOOD PLAYERS ON EACH TEAM, BUT NOT THE DOMINANT PITCHING DEPTH THIS DISTRICT HAS ALWAYS HAD. THAT SAID, IT COULD BE ONE OF THE CLOSER RACES 9AAA HAS SEEN IN A WHILE.

You seemed to have left out a few key guys such as Hunter Goad, Kilgore Gailmard, and Tanner Sandel, all of which playing in the outfield for the Green Wave. Each of those kids will be a threat. But you are right arguably the toughest district in the state

MJ has some very good players in the sr. jr. and so. classes....... Their JV team would beat half the teams in this district. Honestly guys, MJ will run away with this one. They have pitchers, pitchers, and then some more pitchers.

I agree MJ will take it this year. They'll be very tough to beat. But in an honest opinion next in line will be Gallatin. Gallatin played MJ in a 5-3 ballgame at MJ last year. This season's rematch will be just as interesting. But also remember Wilson Central over there, they're hiding a few kids that can really play. Especially a few seniors that will throw quite well for them this season. It'll be a good one though.

HERE IS A VIEW OF 9AAA FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS NO CONNECTION TO ANY OF THE TEAMS. ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT TOURNAMENT IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL THAN REGULAR SEASON PLAY IN 9AAA...

1 - MJHS- PLENTY OF TALENT FOR THIS YEAR AND NEXT

2 - GHS - GREEN WAVE ARE TALENTED AND ARE A THREAT TO MAKE A LONG POSTSEASON RUN IN 2011

3 - BHS - BUCS WILL BE BETTER THAN EXPECTED AFTER LOSING GREAT ARMS FROM PREVIOUS SEASONS

4 - LHS - SOLID TEAM, IF PITCHING DEPTH COMES ABOUT

5 - WCHS - FORD WILL HAVE HIS TEAM IN THE MIX AT TOURNEY TIME

6 - HHS - A LOT OF PITCHING AND LEADERSHIP TO REPLACE, BUT WILL BE A THREAT IN TOURNEY...

7 - SCHHS - DEPENDS ON OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION, COULD BE A SOLID TEAM TO KEEP AN EYE ON

8 - PHS - PANTHERS NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP PACE AT THIS LEVEL

TEAMS 3-7 OBVIOUSLY COULD GET REALLY INTERESTING. IN 2011, ITS MJHS AND GHS. MJ HAS POTENTIAL ACES IN CARROLL AND THE SMITH. THEY ALSO HAVE POSITION PLAYER TALENT, AND THE TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE THAT KEEPS ON KEEPIN' ON. I SEE NO REASON NOT TO EXPECT 30 WINS AND ANOTHER TRIP TO MURFREESBORO.

GHS HAS 3 ARMS THAT CAN WIN GAMES ON ANY GIVEN DAY. BURTON IS A PROVEN SENIOR AND THE JUNIOR CLASS HAS TALENT AND DEPTH WITH GUYS LIKE BENDER, JONES, REPLOGLE, BEATY, TATUM, ETC... WITH THE NEW COACH, THIS SHOULD BE GHS' BEST TEAM SINCE LATE 90'S. THIS TEAM COULD EASILY END UP WITH A REGION BERTH AND SHOT AT A STATE TOURNAMENT.

2 TEAMS TO WATCH OUT FOR: WILSON CENTRAL AND HENDERSONVILLE HAVE SOME YOUNG PLAYERS WHO MAY BE ABLE TO PUT THEM INTO THE MIX...2012 COULD BE ESPECIALLY FOR THESE TWO TEAMS.

Mt. Juliet will definately be the team to beat, but we are confused on the scouting reports. We don't think Gallatin will be anywhere near the top. Gallatin lost their two best players/pitchers from an average team in 2010 and do not have any great players in 2011. In 2010 they were beat by every triple AAA school in Sumner County except, Portland. Lebanon will be a very good team to watch for with Sloan on the hill. Hendersonville will have a rebuilding year and will not be a threat. Beech, Station Camp, and Wilson Central will be good in 2011 with very similar teams, that will make a very good tourney run. Portland may get one suprise victory this year.

Would have to agree with NashvilleBaller. GHS will not be at top but middle to bottom of the conference. Beech will own that division as MJ owns the other division. Lebanon is the team to watch out for since they did not lose anyone important from the 2010 season. Hendersonville will not be good(lost 9 players), Beech lost Hansen, but still has one or two good arms, Station Camp will compete and suprise some people, Wilson Central will be similar to Station Camp, and Portland will not be very good. Good Luck to all.

Who are the favorite teams in 9-AAA? Who are some players to watch?

Keep your eyes on Wilson Central this year. Head coach Anthony Ford has turned things around over there and is running a much better program. With help from Coach B. Howard and A. Schmeltzer the wildcats pose a real threat to anyone who is on their schedule this upcoming season. Although they will be fairly young and lack depth in their rotation, they have great leadership form their centerfielder, Devin Fish. I wouldn't want to hit the to centerfield, this kid can track just about anything down, not to mention how well he swings the bat. They have one of the best high-school catchers i've ever seen play, Dylan Prendergrast. He has an unbelievable arm, i would not reccomend trying to steal on this kid. One of the youngsters to watch will be first-basemen Jacob Wood. Both Prendergrast and Wood will be players to wacth for the next two years.
