Why isn't the AD one of the Asst Principles? The HC must be free of the other distractions which follow the AD throughout the entire school year. Give him a class like ISS which will allow him additional time to focus on the football program. Several HC's I know love teaching/monitoring ISS and it also gives added incentive to the eventual football players to avoid ISS just by knowing their HC is there waiting for them. The administration must give their total support behind the new HC and give him free reign to hire his staff and possible make some room in the school for teacher/coaching positions within the football program. Having the staff in the building is the optimal situation for any program. Good luck to the "IRISH" program.

Key points:

-No charges have been filed, no one has been fired, no arrests have been made.

-ISS supervisor at Houston County is not a contract job position and does not receive benefits and pays significantly less than teaching.

-Athletic Director is a non-paying job at Houston County and must be held by a teacher at the High School.

-Athletic Director no longer gets an extra planning period at Houston County at this time.

HC has not been even competitive in thier losses, what is the deal? i dont understand how having a title of AD and not paying anymore will interest anyone. do they at least give the coach a planning block? do they have a 4th block for athletics?

The school board and the county commission have hand cuffed the school. They control the purse and that high school will never attract any quality Head Football Coach. Who in this time and age will take on additional responsibilities without the pay. Certainly not most teachers I know. I know the county may not have the revenue to find additional money for the school and athletics in general but something has to be done. Athletics are a real reason and motivator for kids to stay in school and at least attempt to get good grades and stay out of trouble. Look at schools who invest the time and money in extra-curricular activities and athletics. Suspension and in school discipline rates are lower and attendance and average GPA's are higher. Wake up and get with the program, or at least be responsible enough and try to!!!!

any word on where they are with the hiring process, has the job been posted, has the old coach been released?

Reames is still listed and AD, HFC and FCA Advisor on Website.

Someone posted a job opening on the coacht site a few weeks back that described a school that could have been Houston County. The school name was not mentioned, and irish was in the email address as the contact. In fact, it is still there.

ERIN — Eric Reames, the head football coach at Houston County High School in Erin, has been indicted on a felony charge of statutory rape by an authority figure.

The indictment was handed down by the Houston County Grand Jury late Monday afternoon. Investigator Brian Hooper of the Houston County Sheriff's Office said Reames turned himself in this morning and was booked into jail, then released on a $3,500 bond.

Reames, 29, has been suspended without pay from the high school since late January.

According to the indictment, he allegedly had sex with a girl older than 13 but younger than 18.

The investigation was conducted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the case was presented to the grand jury by Dan Alsobrooks, District Attorney General for the 23rd Judicial District.

This guy is toast. He has brought embarrasment to the entire coaching community, his school and needless to say his family.

Athletic Director does get extra pay. Head coaches also get a period for that sport during the season.Know the facts first.
