OVERHOLT2323
Central took care of business last night...so much for the Dark Horse...also a blurb from the Central Coach that Willard will be back in time for 6AA tournament and points beyond... So far in the Soddy Tournament, Central has beat Cleveland 2 to 1, and beat Signal Mountain 14 to 0. Playing pretty good right now.
Indian
did not see it myself but some one who was there said that he gave the old middle finger salute to the press box and fans after the loss. It's hard to rank 10 in order after the Soddy-Daisy tournament. Call Soddy, Grace, WV and Ooltewah 1-4 in whatever order, with a next group of Baylor, Sequatchie, Central, Bledsoe. Marion has to drop a little after losing to Whitwell and Bledsoe, they're still capable of big things in the postseason.

I did talk to Shelby from Central and says she will be back on the mound by post season also.
Indian
7-AA ended with at least a couple of the teams not getting to play their entire district schedule, Sequatchie and Chattanooga Christian. 1-5 going into the tournament are Bledsoe, Sequatchie, CCS, Notre Dame and Grundy. Notre Dame and Grundy play in a play-in then the remainder of the tournament section is in Sequatchie. Should be done Monday pending any more weather disruption. Sequatchie wasn't able to play up to 11 games this year, five scheduled and up to six in a tournament. That's frustrating as it hurts consistency, most of their losses were after they'd not played in several days. Much less importantly it hurts statistics when compared to teams that played nearly twice as many games, or got to play more of the lesser type teams Sequatchie did not see too often. Only two regulars are batting .400 or above currently, strictly scored but regardless I'll take the wins over the numbers anyday. Picking district tournament winners and runner ups, Soddy and Ooltewah, Grace and Silverdale, Marion and Whitwell, Sequatchie and Bledsoe, Meigs and Polk, Central and East Hamilton. It would not be a surprise of course to see WV in the top two. Edited, was told the tournament in 7AA should run through Monday. wildukcats
Great defensive game last night between Walker Valley and Soddy Daisy. A Walker Valley win would have given them the number 1 seed going into the tournament. Nunnely brought her "A" game as did WV's Hooper. Soddy got a single in the top of the 7th and advanced the runner on a sac bunt. The next batter hit another grounder out of the infield with the runner taking second on a throw from the outfield to hold the runner at third. This was followed by a failed squeeze attempt. With two outs and runners at second and third, Soddy hit another grounder up the middle bringing in the only run of the game. Hooper led off the bottom of the seventh w/a shot to right field. Originally called safe after beating the throw to third, the umpire changed his call. Hard to tell from my angle how he changed it but he did. Soddy will be number 1 seed and a victory tonight for WV will give them the number 2. Should be a great tournament with Soddy, WV and Ooltewah giving it their all to advance in the post season. Good luck to all three teams.
Indian
Sequatchie over Bledsoe in the 7-AA final, Sequatchie and Bledsoe move on to the region. Sequatchie is hitting the ball well, 16 runs the last two games. Won 10-2 Saturday facing a good pitcher. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2011/may/10/lady-indians-win-7-aa-tourney/?sportspreps South Pittsburg knocked off Whitwell with a one-hitter, that surprises me even though I remembered they split in the regular season. Marion smashed Sale Creek. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2011/may/10/marion-south-pittsburg-set-meet/ Soddy-Daisy drilled Ooltewah and Rhea County followed up the upset over WV, winning a wild one vs McMinn County. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_200904.asp CSAS upsets Silverdale in Class 5A, wipeouts and forfeits in 6AA. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_200898.asp
Indian
Meigs at Bledsoe in a sectional, Bledsoe scored one late to win 2-1 at Sequatchie. Sequatchie at Central, Central won big over Meigs. Grace won big over Marion, I would have picked Grace but not by such a big margin.
