Springfield vs Gallatin

Recommended Posts

Week 1 has a return of a rematch between old rivials Springfield and Gallatin. Many classic games were played between these two in the past. This year's game will be a little different as Gallatin will play short handed. Gallatin has12 players out for disciplinary reasons. Springfield must play better than we did against Grennbrier and have mistake free football to win this game. This is a good game for the Jackets to prepare us for District play. Let the discussion begin........................

Jackets are going to have to play better against the Wave, or it could be a long night, regardless of the suspensions for Gallatin. This old rivalry started in 1926 with a Jacket win. Boyce Smith's first victory at SHS, was against the Wave in 1928, his record against Gallatin was 26-8-2, the Jackets lead the all-time series 30-27-2. The Wave dominated the series from 1968 till present with legendary coaches Jim Barron and Calvin Short, the Jackets last win against Gallatin was in 1981, when the Jerry Pearson coached Jackets upset the Wave in 1980 and 1981. SHS and Gallatin also played in the first TSSAA overtime(3) in 1973, with Gallatin winning 26-20. I love the atmosphere at the "Wave Yard", a great old-time stadium, I have seen some great games and players over the years played there.

This should be another great game in the long history between these two schools. Springfield definitely has some talented kids and Gallatin will have to play at their best to be able to stop the Jackets. Given the situation, another Herculean effort will have to take place with a little luck.

I agree with the best effort and a lot of luck...its going to be tough to win with numerous starters out against a very talented Jacket team ...If i heard right dont we have at least 5 starters out on both sides of the ball ...I did hear Denzel would be back for this game...!

There is a series of events that have to happen for those who were suspended to get back with the team. Hopefully those conditions can be met. However, I would refrain from using any names that could help the competition if someone were to return!! It just doesn't make sense to start naming names or positions.

even with the players out we will have to play our best to beat the Green Wave. With Gallatin's talent level and depth this will be a classic game. We absolutely MUST play virtually mistake free ball to play with Gallatin. This should be a very exciting game to watch

Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine. Maybe new OC can call in a favor to his PGA friends that knows a thing or two about being green during the season. The heat is on soon. Bring in the 2 way freak Iceman and cool things off. He knows a thing or 2 about wildcats. Gotta take our talents South soon for Nationals. Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
    • I think this goes on a lot more than most people know, maybe not finishing an entire geometry class in 90 minutes. This situation seems special.
    • Clint and Blake sitting at home right now after Sunday service having a family discussion.   Pork Chops and Greens on the menu, and maybe some cookies and milk for a snack later.   Clint probably told him he sucked and ruined the legacy, and would be right.   The next HC sits in MJ, but wears blue, JMO.
    • Report from Kodak was the RV isn't ready to load on back.   Working on option offense now because "he can do it all" like his dad.   Zebra had enough had to call a timeout and head on back early for some weekend work down in the Och.   @Sackmaster50 doing running the dance circuit winning titles on the weekend, needs to talk to the boss and get the schedule figured out.
