West Greene @ Cumberland Gap

This is absolutely no disrespect to South Greene, but if CG had trouble stopping South Greene's running game, good luck stopping Boles and Starnes. I may be wrong but I think it will be a long night for The Gap.

Cumberland Gap couldn't stop them in the jamboree. West Greene scored three TD's in one quarter of play. The Panthers did manage one big play through the air, which goes with the Buffs biggest weakness right now, the secondary. If CG can get some big passing plays to work, they might be able to hang with the Buffs, but I'm taking West Greene by at least 3 TD's.

Not bashing CG, heck they've became an annual occasion here, & we're glad to have them on the schedule. Always have a great game out of the CG faithful & no chippy junk on the field. With that said I think the young man from WG is gonna have a banner night. He's a load & has wheels. Plenty of hogs up front pullin' the wagon to. If the Buffs will keep it inside the first may be 3-5 yards & a cloud of dust but as the game wears on I think 3-5 will become 8-10 + as the game progresses. Boles has the wheels for an outside game but he seems to out run his blocking when they take to the perimeter. He'll get his inside or outside I just think the smarter money is between or just off tackle. JMO, that & a dollar will get you a bottle of water

This has always been a close game for a few years, Wg will have to come to play because the gap may run a lot of screens but they run them well. West Greene's pass defense isnt the greatest its ever been, but they wont be able to stop the run game of WG. Injuries may be a factor in this one, i dont know about the condition of Lindsay, Duckett, Hinkle, or Thacker so some young guys will have to step up. West Greene takes this by 2 or 3 TD's pullin away at the end. The Gap will score but not enough to overcome the monster run game of WG. Go Buffs! :thumb:

I agree. I think Hinkle is fine, played most if the game last week. Duckett had a week off to rest, but don't know if he is ready to go yet. Not sure about the other two. I don't think it matters because the Panthers won't have an answer for Boles.

Everyone talks about Boles, Boles, Boles! He's awesome, but People are going to start

keying on him and you can't win against a really GOOD team without a passing game.

Last week Coach C let Rhinehart throw 3 passes and all 3 were completed, as a matter

of fact one went for almost 60yrds with Rhinehart hitting the receiver in stride. (BEAUTIFUL)

Coach C says that running the ball is our "bread and butter" which I agree 100%, but the

way this Rhinehart kid throws the ball, we need to be mixing it up some. At least 10 passes

a game, the kid has a cannon! Everyone that has seen WG play this year, give me your opinion.

Oh yea, Boles isn't the only running back we have! He has a kick a** backup in Heath Starnes

that is an excellent runner as well! STILL, THROW THE BALL COACH! and save the timeouts!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
