Dudeee
Landon Foster, hands down, the best kicker in the state. From what I hear, he has been trained/coached by the Tennessee Titans former punter, Craig Hentrich, and it certainly shows. 6'2" and 195 pounds, a huge leg with kickoffs that either go thru the uprights or the back of the endzone. He has been highly impressive at every game that I've been to since he has played at Independence. Has been rated a 5-star kicker and ranked in the nation's "TOP 12" kickers/punters by Chris Sailer (chrissailerkicking.com) and was offered numerous opportunities to play in the SEC. Former soccer goalie that played on the southeast regional olympic team. Exceptional athlete all around.
Booneman
Chris Dickerson, Sr.-----Daniel Boone, Gray, TN. Chris is a pk/p and has averaged 65 yards on kickoffs with 95% being touchbacks. He has kicked several through the uprights with some of his longest being 80 yards. His average for punts is 42.6 yards. Chris has a great leg and CSA scouts expect Chris to be playing for a D1 school next year. guywithnoname
Callum Wishart from Ooltewah... He's scored 67 points this season making 10/11 FGs and a majority of those were from 40 yards+... This kid is underrated and does NOT miss! His last miss was from their first game of the season!... punt1
Just a final update to my nomination, Caleb Houston, Senior Punter, Walker Valley HS (Cleveland). Season stats (10 games): > 42.3 gross/39.5 net on 33 punts > Punts over 50 = 8 (2 over 60); long of 69 > Punts inside 20 = 12 (6 inside 10 w/3 of those inside the 5) > Opponents avg starting point after punt = their 21 > Game 6 Capt D's Player of the Game > Leads greater Chattanooga area > Excellent student/athlete (3.93 GPA, ACT 28) Although Caleb has had plenty of pre-season accomplishments, to include national rankings (10th/Prokicker.com, 30th/Kohl's Kicking, ESPNU Top 100) he has proven his ability in the field of play. Typically, punters aren't given much recognition but Caleb has been a silver lining to an otherwise difficult season for his team. One of the amazing stats you'll never see published is he has no touchbacks on the year. Another, is that opponents have attempted to return only 7 of his 33 punts. Maybe the reason is the returners keep attempting to catch them over their shoulders while running the other way
mmnis
Landon Foster hands down. I have watched him at every game this year. He has a huge leg and it's no surprise that he will be playing in college on a scholarship. Ranked in the Top 12 nationally at Chris Sailer Kicking. Following is quote from James Wilhoit from this spring who worked with him summer 2010... "Landon Foster (pictured above) is the kicker/punter from Independence High School. He was referred to me by Brian Davis, who is now the starting kicker at Arkansas State, and is certainly the best combo kicker in the state of Tennessee and quite possibly the entire country!" http://jameswilhoitkickingcoach.blogspot.com/2011/05/tennessee-kickers-headed-to-kicking.html Against Franklin he was named the Independence player of the week " Sr Kicker Punter and University of Kentucky commitment Landon Foster had 4 punts inside the 10 and 5 inside the 20. Foster was also 1-1 of Field goals and 2 touchbacks. Foster's foot led the Eagles to a defensive battle between district 11-AAA rival Franklin High School. Both offenses faultered throughout the night versus tough defenses. The extra help for the Eagles was their special teams. Foster's ability to switch the field position kept the Rebels high powered offense at bay. The 5-3 victory gave the Eagles at least a share of the District 11-AAA title. " Stellar athlete, sportsman and leader all the way around. Haven't seen the other kid's but cannot imagine there is a more deserving specialist out there. Landon Foster was easily the best kicker I seen this year. He has a strong powerful leg that the ball explodes off of. My vote would go to Landon Foster.
