I would say yes,coach M will be back. I am not so sure there will be anymore openings other than the 2 already open.

I have heard that others (most notable being Overton) would open up eventually but again that is just the word on the street

Maplewood is proving you can win in Metro Land

It's hard for 5A Metro teams (always matched with the Sumner County schools) and 6A Metro teams (always matched with the Williamson & Rutherford County Schools) to be as competitive in the playoffs. This includes Overton who may actually be the best M.N.P.S. of all but never gets recognized because they play in a "loaded" class. Two other classic examples of this happening to are this past season's Antioch & Glencliff teams (both had nice seasons) who were each a quick exit in the playoffs.

 

Pearl-Cohn & Maplewood have a much easier road in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs (playing rural county schools and/or west-TN schools that aren't what I'd call football "powers").

 

East Literature & Stratford can't take advantage of this because they are taking away from one another and as a result numbers aren't as high or quality as many think. If they were to still co-op under one football program then it would be a power just like PCHS & MHS.

 

Whites Creek was improved this year but all of their coaching change in recent years has caused the football program to suffer a major "setback". Hopefully Murray can turn the Cobras into a contender once again before he leaves for another job (which is bound to happen).

Pearl returns 9 starters to the offensive side of the football. They have 2 good backs in Hogan & Vaughn. They have to replace the fullback Miles (who I have no doubt will get signed somewhere). They lose McDonald as a receiver. They return their line which will be anchored by Hooten (6'6 325). Both Gordon & Knight are back to run the show at the QB position. It will be interesting to see how they decide to do this next year. Will they play just 1 of them and move the other to WR? Will they keep the 2 QB system?

 

Defensively PC loses all 11 starters. YIKES! They'll have the athletes to step in and play I am sure.

 

Being a Metro Magnet School I'd venture to say that a couple of really good athletes could potentially fall into the laps of Brunetti and his staff. They've done a great job developing key additions (i.e. William Johnson in 2007) to their system and winning with them in recent years.

This is a Class 6A sized Metro school where you have PLENTY of athletes walking the hallways. If you can come in with a good scheme, get the athletes out on the field, and get them to understand & buy into your scheme then this could be a great opportunity for a coach looking to relocate.
