gottcha
East up by 6 late in the game vs Heritage and they lost their way. One player shot 6 for 15 and another was 3 for 11....started playing well beyond their means and next thing you know Heritage is up by 5. Both took several very low percentage shots late in the game. When just 2 guys have 26 shots between them, there's not many shots left over. 2 players just can't be allowed to account for nearly 25 wasted possessions. This includes 17 missed shots, turnovers and charges. This recipe won't win many games. ER point guard is athletic, but needs to watch some serious game tapes of teams with strong point guards to understand the position. To shoot 15 times in any one game is like a QB in football calling his own number every third play. And the amount of games he's lead the team in shots taken is staggering. Good PG's create for their teammates and don't care how many points they get. He rarely kicks the ball out to an open guy when he drives and defenders come to him. A team like East can't beat Heritage on the inside with a 6'7" and 6'4" guys in there. And they drove down the lane all night long, many ending up with goofy shots that have no chance. They make 9 three's vs NC the other night and only had 3 tonight. And it wasn't like they were missing, just not that many attempts. You have to play Heritage from the outside and they played right into WHH strengths. He could even learn from the little PG from Heritage. He understands his role and shoots little, despite being a better shooter from the outside than ER's PG. When he brings the ball down it's so obvious he's usually looking where he can drive, instead of starting the offense. Guys open up the court don't get the ball often either, same for guys open cutting through the lane. It's like a few years back all over again and it's bad for team morale. Guys just end up standing around becoming spectators knowing they're not likely to get the ball. Then they become undisciplined as well when they finally get to touch the ball because they're so anxious to do something after 4 or 5 possessions without a touch. This was a huge game at home they could have easily won. But at crunch time late they folded with silly shots, far too much dribbling, and just very bad play overall. WHH just isn't that great and will likely go down once again to McEwen. If they don't, can't see this team doing much beyond that.

MarkWerner
sounds like cascade Indeed it does. Was I rambling....yes. Did I feel better?? Not really. Have a nephew coming up in this program and his parents are considering changing schools so we're all watching this team closely. From the past few years it leaves a lot to be desired. Team plays out of control far too often. Edited February 18, 2012 by MarkWerner
KC360
Congrats to McEwen. This group of Seniors deserved one after dealing with Malcolm Smith the past couple of years. I think McEwen and WHH will both be representing Region 5A in Sub-State this year. Region tournament will be exciting.

Have seen him walk right past a team without shaking their hands as a sore loser. Now that's an example of some poor sportsmanship. Was going to write their A.D., only to find out he's their A.D. Isn't that lovely? I have a nephew that searching for a new school and he's a fine player at the middle school level. This coach is the reason why it won't be there. devilsden
Since I not from around their who is this coach and what school does he coach at? If what you say is true he sounds like a real jerk er, I mean a real doozie.

devilsden
Well from what I'm reading, sounds like recruiting is hitting in Heritage. You say your nephew is "a fine player and he is searching for a new school." Why don't he go to the school he is supposed to go to no matter who the coach is? Thats what wrong now. Everybody looking out for themselfes and trying to best the best deal.
MTCSno1fan
As the No1 MTCS fan I'd like to thank the fans and team of a great school. It was an exciting game with obviously a sweet outcome. I'd also like to thank the Indians for not letting #15 shoot the ball more than a handful of times. The coaching staff did a great job of scouting and the players executed the gameplan. They all knew #15 was a shooter, especially from 3, and strong scorer overall. From my perspective, East Robertson didn't try very hard to get him the ball which is hard to figure. Not that many structured plays, and even then, their point guard would give up on the play to drive. That guy can't be more than 5'6" and he's driving down the lane at least 10 times, with little success. Surely that's not their plan, but coach never pulled him out. No21 kept shooting also, and missed at least 3 point blank. When No3 kept driving no doubt all the seniors must have thought....you have 2 more years to do that. No doubt both of those guys that are basically role players took more shots that their leading scorer. Odd to say the least. MTCS played as a team and it showed. To win this time of year you have to forget about how much you can shoot or score, you have to know your role and play to win as a team. I don't know much about White House, but hopefully they play a similar fashion. I see where East Robertson beat them at their place, and played other games close. Anticipating a good game and a MTCS win. Edited February 26, 2012 by MTCSno1fan
