BA about to get serious with football/basketball coaching search

Why BA would not take a serious look at Paul Wade is beyond me. I have seen all of these names thrown out and very few people talking about Coach Wade. The man has won ever place he has been, and Bowers couldn't win the big one until he got here. If he doesn't get a call or an interview then that would tell me that BA isn't that serious about their opening. Add to the fact he now knows the inner workings over here at Ensworth and he looks even better!

Well, that's good. But, any good leader knows how to make sure the supporters will be with him. The examiner article just gave some names, but I think everyone knows the decision will ultimately be made by one person- and it should.

Absolutely, Curt has been an excellent headmaster. I really like the way he is going about this. No need to rush things, just be sure and get the right fit. Hopefully, he will also take the time to talk to assistant coaches, and players about what the issues have been over the past few years.

The headmaster should focus on hiring a AD 1st then a HC. The AD should have input on the HC hire.

The AD/HC combo is a tough job. During football season your AD needs to be able to focus on the athletic program, not just X's and O's.

Seems like Carlton would be the natural choice for AD and then go after your next Head Coach with his help and background. :popcorneater:

Letter came from school to alumni asking for input on decision for coach. I thought this was a good move. Obviously, the decision needs to be made by the experts ( which I am not one- just another guy with an opinion), but I find it a quality move by the leadership to reach out for us to weigh in.

The letter said that the Alumni Council was meeting Monday and they are looking for input on the PROCESS of hiring a new coach.

I think they want good solid thoughts on how to go about looking this time......committee, single person and who. They also want thoughts on what a coach for BA needs...attributes, personality, qualifications, working with existing coaching staff etc.

Last time it was a one man search. Someone that has no boys and never played football. Don't believe Coach Flatt has any input.

Alumni are to send some constructive thoughts to one of those people on the list.

That makes no sense. Coach has no input?? Why would he not? Why not ask the builder how to fix the building??

I think gofans was saying that last time (when coach Potter was hired) it was a one may search and that Coach Flatt had no input . . .

My understanding is that this was not the case. I think Coach Flatt had input and endorsed the hiring of Coach Potter.

He had input on the Potter hire. He will have an input on the new hire, so will ex headmaster Bill Brown.

No, I know Flatt had some input last time. What I said is " I don't believe Coach Flatt HAS any input".....meaning this time. Believe what you want.

Sorry . . . it followed a sentence that started with "Last time . . . " so I misunderstood your meaning.

I would be very surprized is Coach Flatt wasn't given at least a behind the scenes role or consulted in any way. He is very much a part of the school and many of those who are very involved with the decision are close to him.

Max vs the other JPII QBs? and you surmise they are all equal? good heavens. let's put it this way, if max is not our QB next yr we are in trouble - big big trouble. and one more comment, i said this earlier. i was at my alma mater 2 wks or so, ranked among the top college teams in the country, going to a BCS bowl, and the recruiting head attended my tailgate and knew of our QB. enough said
